Damn - my pitch didn't make it through ABNA this year. Pretty disappointed. Last year my other novel made it to the quarter-finals, and I felt pretty solid about my excerpt being able to get me that far again if I got past the pitch phase. I thought the pitch was fairly strong too, but not strong enough, I guess. Anyone else here enter?

I did, pitch made it through.
I can only hope I make it as far as you did last year!

Commiserations for this time though.

I took a shot at it. Felt like my pitch was pretty strong, but didn't make the cut.

Hey, at least Tor UK still has an open call for my genres, so time to ship it overseas.

Yikes. Been a while since I posted an update in here.

Still querying The Steampunk Novel. Currently there are three fulls under consideration and a few dozen unanswered query letters. I've also subbed it to Tor UK and Carina (following a successful attempt at #CarinaPitch).

I also managed to (finally) meet another of my goals from last year. I finished up the SF Western Novella and subbed it to Carina (after a successful pitch during #CarinaPitch). If it's not picked up there I have a list of other publishers to submit it to.

There's very little writing time at the moment but I'm still working on a YA Southern Gothic Novel and a handful of novellas (Future Steampunk, Sword & Sorceress, Steampunk, Contemporary Paranormal/Horror.)

Aggy, big plans

That's a bunch of stuff, Aggy! Best of luck with each project!

I hired an editor to look over the ms and the proposal for my memoir. The structure of the ms got simplified, but the wordcount got expanded from 70K to 75K. The proposal got a complete overhaul. I'll begin querying the new improved version soon.

No other projects in the offing, except for a tiny bit of outlining for two-three novels set in the same fictional town--the sort of series where each book is completely stand-alone.

Blessings,

Siri Kirpal

Aggy, 3 fulls under consideration is fantastic! Best of luck with that and all your other projects. Yours too, Sai.

For me, I posted my big news in middling the other day, and it's not all that big as 'held for further consideration' is just a baby step - but it was still very welcome news. My poor new novel has been terribly neglected - still under 10k, when I'd originally hoped to have a final draft by now - gah. Ah well, I hope to get back to work on that soon.

I'm currently stranded in Queryland. I have several manuscript submissions out with agents, but its been over a month and every single day seems to dragggg on without hearing anything. This is my first time querying a novel, so I'm probably just being an inexperienced baby. :)

Currently doing NaNo and I'm trucking right along on my new MS. I really enjoy reading this thread and seeing everyone else's progress!

Christine, have you run your query through Query Letter Hell? It does help to point out the weak spots.

Blessings,

My Camp NaNovel has stalled. I like the idea of it but I just wasn't into it. not sure if it's my characters, or maybe the plot needs reworking but for now, it's on the backburner :(

I have plenty of other works to keep me busy though!

Had a blistering* start to the week --- 4,800 --- but am slowing down now. Got snagged on a few plot points, so will have to rearrange some scenes. Still, that's the way it goes.

Finished my novel this past weekend. Edits on it began yesterday. And started to write a new novel as well as the shorties for my monthly goals.

Trucking right along. lol

Huge landmark to finish your draft of your novel, articshark!

And Aggy, so awesome your novel is getting so many requests for a full - you're already in a very elite group - best of luck!
