I remember reading this a few years ago. REALLY good story that showcased how the different character traits can affect gameplay.
I haven't played Sims 3 in a long time (I'm too fed up with EA and their money-grubbing ways), but that story in particular challenged me to let my Sims be themselves for the sake of a good story.
Ever since the Sims 1 my characters were little Mary Sues that never had anything bad happen to them, always went to work so they could live in a nice house, always washed their dishes and took out the trash. They were perfect people living perfect lives, and it took me forever to figure out why I was getting bored with them. I'm positive that my habit of coddling my creations was what kept me from writing anything other than self-inserts for years.
Of course, now it can be argued that I'm too mean to my characters.
