I started a thread elsewhere, but I was told to come here and post a "hello" since I'm new.

My name is Kate, I'm 23 and I love to write. That last one should be a shocker to all of you. I am a vegetarian and animal activist -- I prefer cats to children. Please don't hate me. I'm also a self-identified hermit and do not relate to most people but I love interacting with other writers. I hope I can make some fun writer buddies on here. I made one post on another writers' website asking for advice about a book-related problem I'm facing and was met with hostility and condescension. Not sure why; I was being quite friendly. But everyone here has been incredibly sweet and helpful so far. :)

I really want to become the next Jo Rowling-in-the-cash. I'm not there yet obviously, but two of my short stories were published this month. The good news came pretty quickly, so maybe there's hope for me. On the other hand, I've completed one novel and I hate it. Well, the relationship more closely resembles a love-hate one... Writing just seems to get me all twisted up inside. Hoping to find more harmony in the future.

Anyway, that's me. I look forward to getting to know all of you. :)

Welcome.

Make sure to introduce yourself to heyjude (moderator of the Mystery/Thriller/Suspense forum) at some point; she's also a crazy vegetarian and lives on the Gulf Coast.

Hello. I'm a vegetarian too, but not because I like animals, I just hate plants. Just kidding! I just eat cats.

You can roast one of mine if you like, might not get a lot of meat off her but she'd be tasty with all the trimmings.

George! They're adorable! I have two that are mine but four in-house. Hahahaha I will so be the "Crazy Old Cat Lady" in my later years but I think the stigma should be embraced! Lol. A lot of people underestimate cats' general level of awesomeness, but *high-five*, good to see someone else joining the club!! ;)

Hiya Kate, and :welcome: to the Cooler! I'm no stranger to the love-hate relationship with writing either. Glad you've joined us. :)

Hello! I signed up with this site last year but haven't really spent as much time on it as I should, so I'm basically starting over. So - welcome! :)

My name's Katie, and I'm 23 and live in Georgia. I love cats, but I don't have any yet because my mother hates them and I still live at home. But as soon as my boyfriend and I are able to move out, we will definitely be getting a cat or five. :)

Oh, and I'm also a vegetarian. So it seems like we have a lot in common. :D

Wow, Katie! It sure does seem that way. Half the people in my life call me "Katie" so it's starting to sound like you may be ME from a parallel universe. (Also known as Georgia haha). It would be really fun to get to know you and see what else we have in common! I'm always looking for more writing buddies and the fact that we are the same age may serve as a helpful way for us to relate. We are probably at a similar stage in our lives, and since we are both writers, we are probably on a similar path as well. Thanks to you and everyone else for the wonderful, warm welcomes!

(Oh and I also just noticed we have the same number of posts - 16. Creepin' me out, man!)

I have a cat, a dog, and children, they all get along wonderfully together. Don't be without any of them if you can.

Wishing you all the best

Thanks everyone! Neil, I absolutely love dogs too. Animals in general, really. I own cats though because I relate to them. They are antisocial, quiet and independent, and they don't demand my constant attention. I think any dog I owned would be bored to tears. Lol.

Sass, I definitely embrace Puffness. The other two can be much more insufferable. The "ego much" is grating on my nerves, haha. Did you actually get Sorted on Pottermore? I was so happy when I was placed in Slytherin. >:)~

No- I took a quiz but I don't think it was there. I also know how I am and I would totally be a Hufflepuff. ;) Hubby and I went to Orlando on vacation last month and we got to go to Universal to see the Harry Potter thing. It was lots of fun, though Universal is a bit pricey.
