Hi AW gang,
I'm Ms. E, a former middle school reading teacher currently living in Louisiana! I've got a passion for YA and MG Literature and a red pen that misses bringing comma splices to justice. I once read Sherman Alexie's "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian" aloud to a truculent thirteen-year-old who was convinced that he hated every single book in my library - not to mention me, for torturing him by forcing him to read. I got a laugh out of him after three pages, and he took over reading it to himself after twelve. YA fiction, in my opinion, will probably save the universe.
(Currently I run a music education nonprofit. I work with elementary schoolers who are much cuter than my middle school kids, but not nearly as hilarious. Plus I can't make them read stuff, which is not nearly as fun for me.) I'm looking forward to getting to know the writers of the AW Water Cooler, and hoping y'all can make me a better writer in turn.
- E
