I hope you are all well and I'll try to keep this brief.
At the moment I am studying for a degree in History but I have always liked the idea of writing for pleasure. I don't get much of a chance to and when I do I often can't look at it the next day. Growing up, a lot of what praise I got was often for my writing and sometimes poetry so I suppose, despite being out of practice, there's a chance I have something in me. I have to write a lot for my studies but it is difficult to really discuss anything meaningful under such strict boundaries as those in academic writing.
I am interested in the broader view of history which doesn't suit my studies very well but I make do. Philosophy, psychology and aspects of the esoteric also interest me. A little science too but I suck at it so not much.
I have introspected a lot and come to some level of contentment with myself but I do still struggle to balance my inner and outer worlds so writing can be quite cathartic in that sense.
More currently, I am interested in dominant cultures and how our lives are shaped by them. I enjoy transgressive fiction for this reason but I don't always enjoy it when the protagonist's response to feeling trapped is too outrageous and the focus is on that rather than their own growth or overcoming of what is bothering them.
Okay, so not quite as brief as I planned but hey-ho.
See you around
