A NaNoWriMo-worthy idea? Has this been done before?

To go back to what was said about people changing over the course of time, although I love my husband now I would not have gotten along with him 20-15-10 years ago.

I think the premise is interesting and you should give it a go.

No, but NaNo is a good time to experiment with an idea(/genre/POV/tense/style, etc.) that you're not sure will work. If it turns into crap you'll never use, then you've only wasted a month, but you'll know the result instead of just wondering.
^Yeah, this. :)

The rest of the year is for working on stuff I'm more deeply invested in. NaNo is for fun. Playing with genres you don't normally write in (I'm trying a mystery this year--an urban fantasy style mystery, but a mystery nonetheless), getting to know new characters, and above all powering out that word count.

(Word count is a troublesome area for me, which is one of the reasons I like NaNo.)

I changed my mind. Now I'm going to write about a gasoline-deprived dystopian society. The time-rewinding thing I might incorporate somehow as a simple fantasy experienced by the MC in my new idea, or I might just write the time-rewind story by itself, as a short story or novella. I just don't think I could drone on about a repeated life - especially after she's gone through it 3 times already - and keep the interest of the reader. So I think the original idea is really something for a short write. Not a novel-worthy idea after all.

I have a lot of ideas for my dystopia, so I am excited to start on that next week! Hope everyone's NaNo preparations are going well!

I am mfarraday on NaNoWriMo.org. Please friend me if you are there. :)

It sounds very much like the movie The Butterfly Effect, but write it anyway, because just because you have the same concept, doesn't mean it won't be a different story. Just look at Hunger Games and Battle Royale. Same concept (kids taken to an isolated space and forced to kill one another until only one survives), but the authors took it in such different directions. Best of luck with Nano! I'm excited about it as well...*fingers crossed*!
