I don't want to read all the sequels, just looking for other books like it. Anyone have a recommendation? Thanks.

What part were you interested in? The hidden society thing? Or some other thing that pulled you in?

I guess the hidden society with different creatures. I also am trying to read in my genre. It doesn't have to be hidden, but different creatures, possibly real ones just "different" like the bat and rat in Gregor.

John Flanagan's Ranger's Apprentice series doesn't have as many interesting animals, but it has the same save-the-world adventure feeling.

If you are looking for a smart animals that talk and have a society of their own what about the Warrior series or Seekers. I haven't actually read the series yet, so I may be off on this.

Thanks. I read book one of the cat books. It was interesting. I should probably read it again. I have the free first chapter of Seekers. I think I have a lot of free first chapters from Amazon come to think of it.
