Hi all. I was wondering where you were all hiding. Guess I've found you. I'm glad to know something like this exists. I have far too many questions and this looks like a good place to get the answers. A little about me...I've been writing off and on since I was a kid. Nothing major, just the occasional story or article for local newsletters. Last June I started a novel for the heck of it, now I have five completed novels and I have two more swirling around my head that I can't wait to work on. If you haven't figured it out already, I only write at night. Can't sleep when I have ideas in my head, plus my husband thinks writing is stupid - doesn't get the whole concept...poor deluded man. So I sneak out of bed in the middle of the night and hang out with my laptop in the dark. Best time to write, if you ask me. Problem is, I hate the business side of this. I just want to write. I wish someone else would take care of all the details such as editing, formatting, covers, publishing. I tried the agent route. I think I need a thicker skin. Holy mackerel - talk about being ignored. Maybe I didn't try hard enough, but geez... Then again, pumping out five novels in a year might either mean I am really motivated to write or they simply suck and I have not put enough time into them. We're not talking War and Peace here, people. I love writing comedy - whether it's a murder mystery or just plain old romantic comedy. I look for the types of books I write so I can read other people's stuff, but honestly? I don't see a whole lot of comedy when I'm perusing Amazon's book list and sorting based on popularity. Oh well, I shall continue to trudge on. I promised myself no more writing until I get these five published. Looking for a decent online editor who won't fleece me. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hey, welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'd find something under the Humor category, though I'm not sure if you'd find anything about an editor. But good luck with your novels.

Welcome from another noob :)

I also find that nocturnal writing is easiest. One possible explanation for the appeal is:

"Nighttime is really the best time to work. All the ideas are there to be yours because everyone else is asleep."

Hi! Welcome! This probably isn't the best place to answer all your questions. Go post in a forum, maybe the "basic writing questions", you'll get lots of helpful advice. Again, welcome!

Hello to you, and welcome to the forums. Ever tried reading Theresa Medeiros? Her romances are quite funny. Same goes for many other romances. And Christopher Fowler writes thrillers which do have humor.
