• Lucky never sleeps. All night long he plays with objects found on the floor, making a huge racket. Hour after hour. When he's not doing that, he's usually just sitting and "staring" into space. If he sleeps at all, it's rarely.
• Lucky has no front claws but he spends quite a lot of time sharpening his toes. Thank goodness he has no front claws or everything we own would be shredded.
• Lucky loves to bolt outside whenever possible. He's pretty easy to catch, thank goodness for him.

• Lucky can't meow like a real cat either. He's meow is strange. I would wonder if he's deaf except he can catch flies in mid-air and has super precision in everything he does.
• Lucky is obsessed with other cats and becomes irrationally insane when we let others come inside. He simply will not leave them alone. He stalks them and pounces, over and over again. This becomes quite tiring for other cats and we humans who have to hear the pouncing and subsequent hissing. This goes on until the other cat is removed.
• Lucky is neutered but he seems to have a serious relationship going on with my pillow. We do not encourage this anti-social behavior.
• Of course, Lucky never bumps into walls. He can maneuver his way anywhere and anytime. I'm sure he'd be fine outside if it weren't for traffic and other animals.

I just found this thread and it's so wonderful to see how Lucky has thrived over the years. I wonder if his lack of sleeping is because, as a blind cat, he's getting no "daylight" cues to tell him to sleep. Cats tend to get sleepy when the sun is bright, so as far as he's concerned, it's always the middle of the night.

Perhaps his lack of purring and his odd meow is because he was taken from his litter so early that he never was imprinted on these sounds/behaviors.

The bolting surprises me. He must be able to hear or smell intriguing things through the open door. I have 3 indoor cats (all sighted, though one has only one eye), and they have little interest in going out. Different personalities, I guess.

As for the pillow thing, I've had neutered male cats and dogs with similar fetishes (including another pillow humper), so it may just be his thing. Neutering doesn't get rid of 100% of an animal's sex drive, but perhaps it confuses it.

It's great to see how well he's adjusted to his sightless life. Animals are amazing at just getting on with things and making do with the senses they have
