So I am not sure where to put this. It IS plot related, but maybe it deserves a more general forum. Anyway, here it is.

When I was in school back in the 90s there was a series of fiction books set in WWII. If I remember correctly, the stories were set from both sides of the fence (Axis / Allies). The author was pretty prolific, but for the life of me I cannot find who he was. I get the feeling that the books were not initially released in the 90s, I think they were reprints. Perhaps the author had even been writing since the 70s?

I falsely remembered that it was Clive Cussler. It was not. I looked him up recently and it was certainly not him.

Anyone have any ideas?

WWII fiction, prolific author, possible written in the 70s/80s.

I know, that is pretty vague.

Sven Hassel? I was at school in the 70s/80s and a lot of boys read his books. (Possibly girls too, but as I went to a boys' secondary school, I have no data here.)

I've just looked him up - he seems to be still alive, aged 95.

Could be. I had stumbled onto his name too and I saw a cover for one of his books and I thought maybe... Just maybe...

Thanks. I will give him another look.

Actually digging into Hassel further led me to Leo Kessler. I think it was Kessler.

You might be thinking of WEB Griffin. He's written a few series that take place in WWII and feature the pov from both Allied and Axis characters. He's still publishing and you can find his stuff on Amazon. Look for "The Lieutenants" as the first book in one of the series to see if it looks familier. (He wrote several different series though)
