This month's prompt is the same as last month's, with the addition of a "your choice" option. Why? Because setting is so important. In my opinion, setting is what most often seperates the good books from the excellent books. Too many children's book writers scrimp on setting. Don't be one of them. Take the challenge:

This month's challenge is all about setting! Write a short story/chapter/poem/whatever that takes place at one of the following locations:

1. The subway.
2. A farm.
3. Near water or on water.
4. At a fast food restaurant.
5. The desert.
6. Your choice.

Remember, this challenge is about setting. Make us feel like we're there.

Have fun! :D

(Post your responses in Share Your Work. Remember to drop a note in this thread letting us know you've done so.)

A few of these settings may be a good chance to practise the beginnings of future 'Enigma Files' books!

I'm gonna see what I can come up with....

Excellent.

I still have to rise to the challenge myself...

I love you, Smish.

I got 90% of my entry for the March prompt written about the fast food restaurant, but then I got sick over the weekend and missed the EOM deadline. It was a total repeat of the zombie pets prompt. But this time, I don't have to trash the work I've already done!

Thank you, thank you!

Well, good. But so you know, you never have to trash your work anyway! I myself have posted "belated" prompt responses. :D

somewhere, out there
I decided to enter this time, and I apologize for the length. It's from my current WIP, which is more like a work not in progress, because it's going so slowly.

Great post, Sissy!

How "belated" can my entry be? Because if I survive this month's prompt, I might just dig that rotting parrot back out.

Haven't had a chance to read your response, yet, sissy, but I will soon, promise.

heza (and everyone else!), your response can be as belated as you like. You can go through all the old prompts, if you like (there's a sticky). I don't think anyone will mind one bit if they see a thread in SYW labeled "Belated November 2010 Prompt Response". In fact, I think that'd be pretty darn cool. The prompts were created to inspire folks to write; there's no expiration date for that. :D
