Head of Zeus are the publisher through whom horror legend Graham Masterton reinvented himself as a bestselling "horrorey thriller" writer in the Thomas Harris/James Patterson department, with the adventures taking place in contemporary Cork, Ireland.

Mr. Masterton is a prime example of the horror giants (who are not called Stephen King) who appeared in the original 1970's wave, hit the bestseller lists, got films made (his was with Tony Curtis,
The Manitou), then coasted through the 1980's while producing gruesome thrills, and then when the horror market collapsed at the same time that the USSR did--either gave up, or drifted to the small indie presses, there becoming the biggest names in a tiny pool, and sales and popularity-wise resigned to at best "being big in Eastern Belarus" or such. Like, for example, Ramsey Campbell experimented with Samhain, with little to show for it (and is now mainly with PS Publishing), and Edward Lee became the main name in Necro Publications, and so on.
But when Head of Zeus took over Graham Masterton after like a quarter of a century of "being big in Southern Moldavia", he suddenly became a bestseller back in Britain again, selling hundreds of thousands of copies for the first time since horror's peak way back when.
So something clicked there, someone did the right thing, which is no guarantee, as evident with the careers of the other old timey horror giants who can't seem to catch a break since like 1989. It can't have been just Mr. Masterton being top notch, because the rest of his peers are also top notch. It must've been Head of Zeus making some real good choices and maintaining some real solid efforts, IMO.
That's no guarantee that the next person working with them will become a star, but unlike most of their competition, they have a specific success story I can point to. Because of being a fan of Graham Masterton, and therefore more or less keeping up with the man's winding journey.
