I'm a big fan of promoting through forums because they're a great way to connect with people that have similar interests, and I just discovered a new one for fans of the horror genre called Zombie Fans Unite.

When I say it's new, I mean real new, as in their first giveaway kicks off when they get 25 members that post on a regular basis. The prize is a HC of The Walking Dead, which seems like great incentive, even if you're not into the networking thing.

The web doesn't seem to be overflowing with places for horror writers and artists so I hope the place sticks around.

My husband swears by message boards to promote his work. I'm still relatively new to all of it but I like all the resources that are available on writing forums like this one.

I think so long as you don't use message boards for the sole purpose of promoting your work then it's a good tool.

Personally I get a bit put off when people only post to promote and don't engage with anyone else or any other discussions. It actually makes me less inclined to look at their work.

x2... As long as you aren't spamming your own work I'd say it's a good tool.

I know what you mean, Shaldna. Some forums (not AW) have the spamming authors attacking like a marauding army. The Amazon forums seem to be especially rough; so rough in fact that there are entire threads dedicated to bashing those authors... which doesn't slow them down at all :p

I know what you mean. I dislike being on a forum when someone is heavily hawking their wares. If they're contributing and being a 'normal forum member', that's fine. I just dislike the heavy selling aspect.
