Wanted to say hello. I'm a guy, mid-thirties, and for 13 years now I've worked as a writer. Half of that was as a daily newspaper reporter, and for six years I've worked as a professional writer for a large organization in Kentucky.
For the past two years, I've awoken between 4 and 5 a.m. and started my day with 90 minutes or so of fiction writing. I've completed two novels, one middle grades and one upper middle grades/YA.
My first novel was, and probably should remain, trunked as a learning experience. I've worked on my recent project, a contemporary upper middle grades/YA since May 2010 and recently finished the first draft. I'm revising now, and I'm enjoying taking a class with a nonfiction writer, who won a Golden Kite award. He's had good feedback for me.
I've participated regularly on the message boards at the Query Tracker site, and I would love to benefit with the AW forums as well. I've lurked for awhile, and I see some very good advice and feedback from some talented published and yet-to-be published writers.
Good to meet you all, and I look forward to reaching the 50-message milestone. Forty-nine to go.
