Automatic Notification for threads I am posting on?

Hi,

Apologies if this information is elsewhere. I have a had a look but couldn't find it. I am a new member and would like to know if there is any way I can get automatically notified if someone posts a reply to a thread I am contributing to?

you have to subscribe to that thread- to do that look at the tool bar that says thread tools- click it. A drop down menu will appear and one will say subscribe to thread. then I believe there is an option if you want to be notified immidietly by email or what have you-

Please avoid using the option for immediate notification via email, and use the option to have threads listed in your User CP, or via a once a day digest in email; the server can become overloaded with the immediate notification option.

I'm a member of another forum that uses this same software and there was an option to autosubscribe to any thread that I posted to. I looked for it here in User CP but didn't see it.

Is it disabled here?

To Autosubscribe:

  1. Click User CP
  2. Scroll down a little to the section on the left side bar titled Settings and Options
  3. Click Edit Options
  4. In the Messaging and Notifications center panel, see the section labeled "Default Thread Subscription Mode."
  5. Select the option you wish from the pop-down menu.

Please Do Not Use Instant Notification.


We've got 36,000 active users. A fast-moving thread can cause notifications, including PMs, to back up, and that would make me very cranky.

Also, if you post in many threads at all, instant notification can lead to more notification emails than you might expect (don't ask how I know). I'm on autosubscribe but with no notifications. I don't get emails, but any thread I've posted in with a new post since the last time I read the thread shows up when I click "User CP", all the new threads are above the rep points. This makes it very convenient to be able to see any responses to any threads I've posted in.

I'm on autosubscribe and instant email notifications on another forum, but it's a lot lower traffic than AW.
