Thanks Khazarkhum! Do you happen to know Ms. Nelson or any of the agents at her agency personally? If so, would it be okay when I query her to mention you? ( I guess I would have to get your real name for that--not sure if that's allowed on the forum.)

No need to know Kristen or any legit agent personally. (Besides, as far as I know, it's just Kristen and her Admin at this point in time; no other agents).

Her agency is here.

Her blog is here. She posts on a fairly regular basis.

BTW, she signed Jamie Ford (who sometimes posts here), and he has a novel called Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. (This is so up my alley - must. put. on. wish list. :)) Jamie didn't know Kristen (except maybe through her blog), but she was so taken with his prose, that she decided to represent him and his novel - it's more mainstream than what she usually decides to take on (fantasy, romance, etc.).

His characters are Asian, and have to deal with the racism and internment camps for Japanese Americans during World War II.

Good luck!

I have to second, third & forth what everyone else has said. I've met Kristin briefly but don't know her. She's on my query shortlist.

Ugh. Just looked up this service after it cropped up on one of the PA threads. Looks like Randy is still at it.

To start with, she's added a new disturbing yet hilarious tagline:

We perform "book appendectomies" to get the book inside of you out!
She goes on to list a number of jaw-droppingly overpriced services, but this was my fav:

3. Get listed on Wikipedia!

We write Wiki pages. $1997 per Wiki page; 850-1200 words, includes placement on Wikipedia.

Wikipedia is a great place for you to get exposure. We will write your Wiki page and upload your Wiki page to Wikipedia for you, since Wikipedia does not allow you to place your own page on Wikipedia.. When we write your Wiki page, we will make sure your Wiki page meets Wikipedia's stringent standards and does not read like an Advertorial.

ETA: Looking at the bios of the editors and the ghostwriters on the site, it looks like Randy has surrounded herself with some solid people with decent industry credentials. She'd perhaps be better off focusing on ghostwriting and editing and ditching the questionable press release and SEO services.

JFC. $2000 to write a Wikipedia page? And then to have it deleted because the subject doesn't "meet notability standards," which I've seen happen twice to another writer who did write her own page, and which happens all the time to self-pubbed/vanity-pubbed authors. Yeah, that's worth it. And it doesn't matter if they wrote it or not (although writing one's own Wikipedia page is horribly tacky).

Frankly, given the stellar writing and editing on display all over that site--commas outside quotation marks, missing punctuation, tense disagreements, etc.--I wouldn't really consider paying for any of the services offered.
