South Carolina, but Florida would be nice.
"Hey y'all from South Carolina", said with an exaggerated Georgia accent. Nah, we don't seem to like anyone elses way of doing things. The trouble is, we don't know how to do it ourselves either. Anyone who watches the talk shows what a joke this state is, but then someone has to be last.woohoo

I'm currently writing a contemporary fiction novel about homeless people- working title The Homeless are People Too. The first draft is complete, but I can see that it is very short. Rather than pad it out a lot, (though my main character is rather one dimensional), I'm going to add a second part. Back to outlining :(. I think I'm here because I'm stalling.

I also have a completed short story, very short. I guess they call it flash fiction? 1500 words +/-. I'm not sure what genre to put it in. I don't want to make it longer, because the characters are pre human so there's no dialogue. It's got an anthropology theme (no aliens, it's not 2001, A Space Odessy) sp?

I look forward to reading people's stories and putting in my 2 cents worth. I love sci-fi, especially classic. Asimov and Heinlein and detective stuff. I also read non fiction, it's great for ideas. Peace, out Leyland Cypress

Welcome.

Now, now, don't be too hard on Georgia. My mother lives there. And the peaches are great!

You will find a lot of people here who share your interest in Asimov and Heinlein.

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the 'forum jump' you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. After you post 50 posts you can use the SYW areas to get help there. The password for some of the areas is…..vista. A word to the wise, it would be a good idea to participate first in helping others before you think about posting your own work. After you have been around here for awhile, then post something of your own for help. Good luck.

@Allycats

Not pickin' on Georgia at all. Whenevr I see a TV character from anywhere in the south, they have this strange accent that sound sort of like Georgia, but exaggerated. I've evn heard it in game show contestants. Kinda makes me feel like the game shows are fake. Now they wouldn't do that, would they

so. Is your inference that Georgians are slow, of that those of South Carolina walk at an even more leisurely pace?

Homelessness is almost incomprehensible to me. The discomfort of sleeping on a paved road is so extreme that the mind boggles as to how anyone can tolerate it.

I’m not going to presume to understand this phenomenon and I wish you well in bringing the plight of these poor people to light. Everyone deserves to be greeted with dignity, if they choose to discard theirs in their response … well that is their choice. Or perhaps not, I am thinking that perhaps mental illness plays a part in this. Tragic.

Heavy words aside, Welcome!
