I made a terrible terrible mistake today.

I usually send a draft of my query to myself before sending it off to the agent, but I was running late on time tonight, so I skipped that part. Upon checking my "Sent" folder, I realized that my email totally botched up my poor query and sample pages.

*head to desk*

Anyways, I immediately sent off another copy of the same query (with format fixed) and a note in the subject line saying "(FORMAT PROBLEM FIXED)." Did I just pave the way to rejection?

Sadface.

Oh, BBE, most agents are human, too. (Excerpt for a handful of particularly nefarious cyborg agents.) They understand that mistakes happen. Heck, I once got a request off a query in which I got the agent's name wrong. Agents are primarily interested in whether you've got a good story. There are some who might dun you for an understandable format error, but would you really want to work with a nitpicking jerk like that?
