Hi.

I am not sure if you understand the title of my thread. I came here from another computer just to ask a question. Here's my situation.

I just installed Office Home and Student 2010 on a second computer. The question is, if I uninstall it from the first computer I installed it in, will that first time still be used up, the license, you know, or will I be able to install it on 2 more computers in my house if I uninstall it from the first one?

I hope you understand my query and it's not confusing. I'd never had this conflict before.

Thanks
Magali.

Updating from my Computer right now.

I just found the answer to this question directly from Microsoft's Official Website in the Office section and it says if I uninstall Office from one computer I can use it on two more computers. In other words if I have it installed on 3 computers and I uninstall it from one of the three computers and get a fourth computer, I'll be able to install it on the fourth computer, so thanks to everyone that visited. I prefer to leave this thread here in case someone else has the same question.

Best regards
Magali.

You might have to ring the number they give you to sort out licenses. Basically, to activate it you will need to do this - all it generally involves is a 'how many computers is this product installed on?' question to which you answer any number less than 3. That then (I think) makes the previous version the 'illegal' copy by transferring the license but I assume you are no longer using that PC, right?

Yes, I am still using this PC, but I am no longer using Word on it, so I am going to go ahead and uninstall Word and all of Microsoft Office from this one. The truth is that I only have it installed on two computers right now, but we are no longer going to need it on this computer, so I am going to go ahead and uninstalled because I am thinking of getting a new computer, and if I do, I am going to install it on that computer. I read in Microsoft's Website from Ron, a customer service representative, the gentleman or lady that was asking the question, asked if he could install the program on a 4th computer, a computer he or she had just bought, or if he or she had to purchase a whole new program, you know, another copy of the program...and Ron told him or her that he or she had two options: buy a new copy of the program or uninstall it from one of the first three computers and then install it on the 4th computer. Darn, I wish I had that link to that message-board post. I am going to find it.

I found this page. Not sure if it's clear on whether or not I can uninstall the program from a computer I am no longer going to use it on and install it on another one with no problems, as that's what I wanted to know. I ask you check out the link and tell me what you think.

That's not the link I found that I thought had clarified my question last night, but it deals with the same issue, so that's the one I'm posting. I plan to find the page I read last night later on and come back to this thread and post the link to that page.
