I went for the simple johnlisterwriting.com, which was my way round the fact that johnlister.com was taken.
Whatever you pick, I'd recommend a .com, as simple a name as possible, and no hyphens. That will help make it more memorable and appear more professional.

I used my first and last name (denenebrox.com). I think that most professional writers just use their name (if the URL is available). I don't know of any who use something else??
