I was wondering how the Christians on this board view repentance. I personally am a “once saved, always saved,” kind of gal, but I do have to admit that I have a hard time figuring out how someone who is a Christian will be saved if they let’s say murder a bunch of people and keep doing it. Although on the other side of that spectrum if someone were to lie by telling their friend that they really do like that haircut and then they go out and get hit by a bus how sad would it be that they get their ticket to heaven torn up because they weren't given a chance to repent from that one sin.

So my question is do you see repentance as an initial required act at the time of salvation, a moment of remorse and turning to God or do you see it as something that is required throughout your journey with God in order to keep your salvation?

Thanks, Colorado!

ETA: Just a reminder, gang, that this is a writing forum. Please relate discussions to repentance in writing, in characters, in how you experienced something and how it'd make a great plot/character. Thanks.

Up at the house.
To the OP:

None of us are any good, even in our best times. That's why He died for us. As for someone going on a murder spree? My opinion is that individual may have never been saved in the first place. This is all just my opinion, so please don't flame me. I'm not going to argue about it.

I ask forgiveness a lot because I'm not what I should be. My belief: He died once on the cross. I was saved that night when the Spirit convicted and drew me to repentance. He sealed me eternally as His. That did not imply I'd walk in perfection. But it did make me painfully aware of my sins. Hope this helps. And again, please lets not get into an argument. I wont go there.

Where do I belong?

Thanks, Colorado!

As in life no one ever knows where I belong. :) I thought the comparative religious board would work for this particular question since I was trying to compare within a religion. If we can't do this on that board then may I suggest that we need someplace for Christians to discuss such matters? I thought at one point we did have such a spot, but I guess we Christians just got a bit too rowdy.

For now, I'll take my question over to the "Office Party" board since I really don't want the answers to relate to writing for this question.
