I've seen this several times over the last few days under people's user names, and I just wanted to know if it had any special meaning? I don't remember seeing it before.

It's just a default title for new members. It gets changed from time to time. Before this it was: "New kid. Be gentle."

I've also seen something that ends in FTW under several new names - FTW can be interpreted as a naughty phrase, but has other meanings too, I guess? "Free the Wookies" I think it might be ...

Can you change what the words say under your avatar, or does the site do that? Thanks

That's your join date, location (if you list one), and post count. Some people like to put something witty for their location, such as Pluto or Chaos Island. Personally, I prefer it when people put their actual location; it helps when you're answering a question and you don't have to ask if they're in the US, the UK, Australia, or elsewhere.
