i am looking for a beta reader for my young adult fantasy novel, Alannian and the Sword of Azallyan. I will return the favor by critiquing, regardless of any genre.

May I make a suggestion? I urge you to start critiquing the work of others in the Young Adult SYW (Share Your Work) board, and at any other boards of a genre you read, whether you write it or not, and to ask or answer questions at the Young Adult board.

That way, some people may feel they owe you one. They'll have an idea of your skill sets as a critic and how well those skills match up to their weaknesses. They'll feel like they know you, or at least have seen you around. Assuming you're as cool as anyone else here, some will come to like you and hope to help you. And you'll quickly reach the 50 posts required for you to post your own chapter one at SYW, so potential betas can get a better idea whether your book is something which could sustain their interest.

Beta reading an entire novel without having seen a bit of it, requested by someone you don't know quite yet, is a whole lot to ask, and while sometimes an AW member will volunteer, sometimes they're wary, too. I'm sure you can see why.

So please, join the board's community (within your genre and anywhere else) so we can see how great you are. In no time, I'm sure qualified people will be happy to beta for you. You are cordially invited to Ray's House of Love and Chocolate, or whatever they renamed it, at Office Party.

Maryn, pleased to meet you

I have been critiquing in the Share your own work, although I've only had time to do query letters.

Could you please critique mine? I won't be able to critique yours at this point, but I could read and tell you what I think. I really would like one for mine.
