Well, I did a quick search and at least on of them did come back. Sometimes, though, the OP doesn't realise there is another response, especially if it's an older thread. You could, I suppose, send them a quick rep telling them you've critted it.

I'm rooting for ya Annie ... You'll reach the 50 posts mark before you know it.

It sounds to me like you're looking for a mento ... There is a thread here to contact one.

Welcome to the 'Cooler, MountainAnnie.

I'm thinking that if you wanted to invite a couple writers to crash on your couch, say during winter baseball season, we could get you a writing partner. Course, in my case, most of the writing would look amazingly like score sheets from the game, but hey... :)

here is the problem.. I have posted a couple of crits in the SYW forums -- started in non fiction... but found that the OP original posters .. often do not come back to post and respond. Any ideas on why? This is a huge board and very active but I am still looking for a way to plug into a "sense of group"

thanks

On this board, it's generally considered bad form to argue with those who critique you...and it's also generally frowned on to post revision after revision without a decent bit of time in between. As a result, many of the original posters will respond with a simple, "Thank you," or not respond at all. They're taking the advice into consideration and going back to revise.

You can learn a lot in SYW by commenting and reading the comments of other posters, but it's not the best place to go if you're searching for a sense of group. For that, I'd recommend AW Roundtable or the genre-specific section that best applies to what you're writing.

I live in Ohio. I haven't found a groovy little bookstore here, either =) And it shore ain't paradise!
Just get your 50 posts in and you can put up your work - post it and they will critique, my pretty! be careful what you wish for!

(that's all, couldn't think of any other quips to throw in...)
Welcome!

I'm in Columbus, and haven't found any groovy bookstores or groups, either. On a side note, has anyone else noticed Ohio seems to be mentioned in everything? Man does paradise sound good right now!
