I'm putting this here because if I leave it on my computer, I can ignore it. If I put it in a public forum, I'll be more apt to stick to my goals.

1. have 1 update left on an online story I am writing. 1...that's it. I want to finish that asap. - finished

2. I am working on a YA paranormal romance. Currently, I am working on chapter 13. This book looks to have 19 chapters if my outline is correct (HA). I'd like to complete it by May/June.

3. Start keeping a file of all the story ideas that I do have.

4. Begin work on the story idea I have for a contemporary adult romance about single mother in a small New England town.

5. Find a mentor

6. Learn to schedule regular writing time.

7. Write romantic fiction short story based upon horrific bar experience. Finished - and sumbitted to Woman's World Magizine

8. Story idea based upon a comment made by my kids about a single mum.

These seem pretty simplistic, I know, but I'm planning on adding to them as time goes by. I'd love for people to weigh in and help me stay on track.

hi

M:

I don't think those goals are at all simplistic! They sound great and doable. Easy for me to say; between this board and spider solitaire, I'm not working towards any of mine.....

assign "creative writing time" to your students in school and write like mad to "MODEL" good writing behavior?

I swear that's the ONLY way I'll ever be able to schedule regular writing time

I think writing goals are fantastic! It doesn't matter on how big or small, just putting them down on something visible gives them more weight and crediblity. One of my goals is to liquor up my internal editor so he'll be too distracted by my free writing. Here's to goals!

Keep writing! You can do it.

Woo-hoo! See, lists are great tools.

Thanks Pike. I'm excited. It feels weird to have this particular project completed. I'm feeling a bit bereft right now. I need to focus my energies on the rest of my list. Or more computer rummy lol

hee - I've got the perfect way to procrastinate. I came up with an INCREDIBLE story last night - sadly, I went to a bar with a friend and was hit upon...ugh, I'm so past tht, but it planted a nugget of an idea for a romantic fiction short piece in my brain, so instead of writing, I need to go research the perfect magazine to send it. Oh and I must go add it to my goals ;)

Well, I finished goal #7 the short story, and it has been edited for grammar and spelling. Now I just need to cut 400 words from it and it's ready to submit. *sigh*

The slicing and the dicing. Tearing out a piece of your soul is always the hardest part. I'm a little backwards in that department. I tend to write more conservatively then have to add info and details that are quite obvious in my mind but didn't translate to the page. Then I go back and rip it to shreds. Just pretend it isn't your work, pretend it was written by an evil nemesis and this is your ultimate revenge (bwahahahahahaha). It's those simple pleasures that get me up in the morning.

It's edited and submitted. I shall now be sick to my stomach for the next 6 months or so lol. but on the happy side, I got another plot bunny in my head when I was thinking about this one. In fact, this plot bunny may be a book lenght plot bunny. Hmmm...must go edit it into my goals

*sigh* I need a swift kick in the posterior. I'm working and writing but on something for me that will NEVER find it's way to an agent's office
