I write anywhere I can. My kids' music lessons, my bed, the couch, my desk, The university math lab, the car, etc. Whenever I can get ten minutes together, I write. My laptop and I have logged a lot of miles together.

I tend to write best on campus, either in class or in the library, where I'm free of distractions.
Weirdest thing I've ever written on: I've used receipts to write poetry and jot down novel ideas in the car.
Weirdest thing I've ever written with: liquid eyeliner.

I use to go to the library to write, but it gets so tiring after work I just go home.

Plot and character development stew in my head, lying on the couch; writing happens in the cramped corner where the computer is my world.

Ideas may arise elsewhere. Usually bathtub or toilet. Some survive to re-emerge when the fingers hit the keyboard.

I just took a pic of my workspace as of a few minutes ago (and I hope this works!) On the right, you will notice the trash from my Hershey's Miniatures, on the left the current reference books. The laptop is displaying THIS message thread. A terabyte drive on the opposite end of the table is a Godsend for backing up work and reference stuff I've downloaded.

Because I have a laptop now (highly recommend a good laptop!) I can go to the barn or lake if I feel blocked. But the ONE place I can't figure out how to write at is the hot tub. When someone gets that figured out, then I'll be able to really crank out the words!

I usually write in my home office at the computer, but I carry an AlphaSmart Neo with me & write during my stint as a volunteer at a local gallery and also while sitting around waiting for doctor appointments.

In bed with the laptop, or in the kitchen at the comp.. staring at a yellow wall and a big Tourist Board picture of Llynnau Cregennen, which is a lake surrounded by hills and the sun just rising on it. It's cool, cuz it's on the east wall, so if I look past it out my window, I can see the sun rising here too.

I can't write when there's really scenery because I get dist.. OH Look A BUTTERFLY!

The kitchen table is my favorite place at home. Away from there... anywhere is game. I do a lot in class. If the professors won't say anything interesting, I'll just entertain myself...
