I don't think it means you will be able to buy one in the near future.There are a number schemes to make computers affordable in Africa and other underdeveloped countries, by using Linux and outdated chips .India has a poor recored when it comes to manufacturing things for it's own population.Not long-a-go it announced the £1000 car.The car is too dangerous to be driven outside of India and was part of a deal allowing the car company to clear away a village for it's factory.But there is hope ,have a look

I have a asus refurbished netbook I got from ebay for $150. It holds an sd card for extra book storage. Use it for writing, too.

Also cheap (and i use it daily) a Palm tungsten e pda refurbished--got mine from ebay under $50. Holds an sd card. Love it.
