Ah! I couldn't figure out what the "A" was. I had supposed it was "and."

And it's still odd to me that the word "queer" is no longer taboo.

EDIT: Forgive my ignorance, but does "Allied" mean in the sense of "friends of" or "people who don't fit into one of these others"?

I looked at the date of this post and saw so few replies and the invitation to add to the acronym. Maybe because I was born under the sign of the rabbit, I thought I would drop a piquant note. But then that fact of so few posts struck me and I found my knees knocking as much as Dorthy's or any other traveller on the Yellow Brick Road with the temerity to stand before the Great Oz's curtain and having no ruby slippers to click and no intention of ever going back to Kansas, made for the side door.

Um...is this a sidelong reference to the old gay slur about being Friends of Dorothy? If it is, it's not funny and it's not clever.

Perhaps it would be useful for everyone to (re)read the stickies for this room.

QUILTBAG isn't about showing off your wit, asking others to affirm your brilliance as a writer, or expecting others to educate you about the history of an oppressed minority. As the owner put it, "Keep your mouth shut, read a lot, and you might actually learn something real, okay?"

It was upon invitation of 'Feel free to add to this thread, folks, as things occur to you.' I took it at face value. Went to add something but saw that it was already there, and what occurred to me was that I felt nervous about posting anything and responded to that feeling. And yes, I read that sticky post--twice through. Heartily agreed with all of it. But I am unknown to you--so fair point. I'll concede that I am not the sort of person who wears their bonafides on their sleeve. So apologies and I beg this be the end of it.
