Howdy Red and Seams! ---Lurkers? Any lurkers? Morning/afternoon to you too. :)

Red how's the glass block coming along? Hope it's all making progress.

Seams, what are you working on now? Will the sticky fingers piece be making a come back?

No glass block up yet. They failed to follow through again, but they're working on it now. I'm in my room watching Precious and trying to avoid them as much as possible. They have agreed to work all day today, tomorrow, and Sunday and I am staying home to make sure they do just that. Well, enough about my kitchen disaster.

How's the writing going?

Bummer. Grrr.

Writing is going well. I'm telling myself that I am becoming more comfortable with writing this stuff. I love to lie to myself. hehe. I am actually having bursts where I do feel like I'm getting comfortable with my voice in this stuff. I am working on expanding that mental state beyond a few paragraphs at a time. I don't think I should be too impatient with myself considering that I have been writing all of seven months total and only seriously trying to write for the past two months. I had to look up my first critable posting to check on that. Sheesh, it's not been that long at all. I remember you prodding me about all my push pin activity until I finally tossed the little box across the room and sat down to write something--anything just to get you to leave me alone. LOL ;-) And now look at me. Like a little pit bull with a chew toy. I have you to thank. --I think. hehe.

What are you up to with your time off from work? Any writing on the agenda or do you think it will all be cracking the whip in your kitchen?

hey blue, seams.

yeah, been cracking the whip, which is a pita. i keep running in and out of the house 'cause i have found that if they don't know when i'm coming home, they keep working. i've seen this guys work, and it's good, but he's known to mess around. well, it's getting done now, but what a life invasion this has been.

i'm taking my ms to the coffee shop to write and eat a yummy bowl of french onion soup. it's been raining here for a couple of days and the wet chill may be even worse then the snow. my yard is like a swamp.

how's the pond? how's the writing? how's seams?

What a drag. Maybe you should have just stuck with a hot plate and called it good. LOL
One day, and maybe by spring, your kitchen will be done--and hopefully without the loss of life.

I'm making some progress and feeling more comfortable with it. That's a good thing right? /:-}

It's been raining and blustery here also but we're starting to dry out...slowly. It certainly pelted my crocus. The daffodils are doing fine though, even in spite of the hail. I'm just glad the tulips weren't up yet.

i really didn't expect to miss cooking so much, but it was a family tradition for me to cook sunday nights, so it's cut down on family fun. grrrr.

yes, it is wonderful that you're getting more comfortable with your writing. i think voice is all about finding a comfort zone. that way the writing stays consistent throughout the ms. the problem, for me, was by the time i got to the end of the ms i was writing a little differently (hopefully better) so i had to go back and patch up some places.

i just had dinner with four friends and on my drive home i realized how fortunate i am to have such diversified company. one, wearing peace sign sort of clothing. another, dressed in combat fatigues (she's in the army). yet another, coiffed to perfection. and me, mismatched as ever. funny stuff.

Oh, I'm sorry I missed you live here. I think I would be perfectly suited for a kitchen remodel. I don't care about cooking one way or another. I'm good at it, but by the time I'm finished "working" with food, I'm no longer interested in eating it. I can go quite soem time on salads and deli food. My foodie friends shudder at that one.

You are fortunate to have such friends and you are wise to see the value. It must be a wonderful joy to you every day to see how far you have come in your life. I think you are quite an inspiration and I'm proud to virtually know you. ;-)

I do think I understand what you mean about the writing changing as you go along. On one hand I would like to move on to new material but at the same time I see the changes each time I rework it. I would much rather do that on a short story than on an full sized MS. :-0
I don't know if it's possible to get your "voice" down enough for consistency throughout before you have written for quite some time. I just hope I can get in the ball park and I'll be happy with that for now. Your's always seems pretty darn consistent when I read your postings. One day, Blue, one day...heheh

I just made a stupid move. sigh. I got myself all kinds of confused about when if and where to use "ing" words. I had to go outside to pull weeds just to clear my head. Not doing that again. Ignorance may be bliss but it is also much more conducive to writing. Haha

You guys working on anything today?

Oh hooray! I thought I was all alone. So sad. So needy. LOL

I've convinced myself it's going well. hehe. Actually I think I may have crawled over whatever hump I was struggling with recently. Now that doesn't mean a hill of beans in the grand scheme but I'll take the mole hills where I get 'em and be happy about it.

How's it going with you? I haven't heard--recently, how your work is going.

i have been a major bum. i keep printing out pages with the intention of going back over them and just can't seem to get it done. i spent the weekend running in and out of the house trying to avoid the kitchen work, but also letting the workers know that i would be popping in to check their progress. i pulled my printer out of my spare room, which has served as an office, and put it in the living room, but it's just such a mess that i can't stand being anywhere but my room. so, i hide in there with the intentions of getting work done, but there is hammering and saws buzzing all day. it is such a distraction. on a happier note, i now have walls and a ceiling with one coat of mud on them. they will sand tomorrow before applying another coat of mud and repeat that process wednesday night. friday=paint. sat=floors. sunday=i don't know yet :) this has been a nightmare.

so, my work has really suffered. well, it will be done soon.

i'm glad you're getting stuff done though.

Sheesh it really is a nightmare. How long has it been going on now? Was it the holidays when they started? Seems like it's been ages even to me. So I guess this task master position you find yourself in doesn't work well for slipping off to the coffee shop to work. I do believe I would be an unbearable B**** by now.

Has this just sucked the writing right out of you or is it limited to the memior?

it's been 7 weeks. you know, now that they are cracking on it, i'm doing better. the hard part was waiting day after day and seeing little to no progess. i'm not going to complain too much, but can i just say (once) that this has been a really tough winter. aside from the crazy amount of snow, and the kitchen, there was the loss of a major relationship. dang. the way i see it, i'm in for a heck of a great spring and summer. the universe owes me big time. ha.

my writing in general sucks right now. well, i guess it sucks because i can't even get motivated to do it. i started riding my bike again, which has always helped with energy.

so, you have overcome what exactly? ready to show and tell?

Seven weeks. Blech! I do not possess the personal restraint for seven weeks of blundering strangers tearing up my house and making a mess of everything during a lousy rotten winter. Nope, I'd probably end up in jail. LOL
You have definitely had a rough time of it lately. I have admired your fortitude in that you kept right on writing just the same through all of it. Very impressive, you!

A bit of slumping is perfectly reasonable. The bike riding is good. Is that in or out riding? Out would be impressive because that means you can see the ground again. LOL

Overcome? Well that might be a bit agressive. hehe. Nah, I just feel less uptight right now. Maybe you remember from when you were starting, that internal editor that just chokes the will to live right out of you. I'm still not feeling the level of comfort and ease that I want but one day I hope to get there. I've been pretending to myself that I might have a grip on all the ideas you guys directed me in. Of course the truth of that will be in how it looks when its' ready to show you guys again. I hope that will be soon.

it's a stationary bike. last year i rode ten miles a day, every day, for a year. i was in killer shape :) so, my goal is to get back to doing that first. i'll ride outside in the summer, but i do walk my dog daily.

i hope to see a piece from you soon, too.

Oh funny, I used to do the same on my stationary bike. It killed my backside though! Stupid seat. I bought a glider machine, like cross country skiing and I really love that thing. Of course I bought it, nearly died from something and when that didn't take began my life on a rock busting chain gang. Didn't need the glider so much then but the chiropracter came in handy.
I also used to walk the dogs daily but now that we live in the country they really don't need me to and I usually don't have the time like I did before moving here. Silly life stuff.
Did get some excercise yesterday tossing an opossum carcass though. hehe

I would like to get something ready for posting soon too. I'm almost there I think. I am wondering though about the length of it. It's getting kind of long and I would really hate to post only part of it and not the whole thing. Well, we can all chat about it and laugh at me when it's ready for posting.

Red I'm out, I'm too tired to spell. hehe
Take care on the way home tonight/this morning. Rest well, then get those bums working. Thanks for the chat tonight. I hope to have something for show and tell soon.
;-)

Seams, hope you're having a good day and writing your finger tips off. Enjoy your morning and your coffee!

yep, the bike hurts the bottom. ha.

joe-joe is fine with me, but is having problems with some of the staff. he gives them a hard time. he's bipolar and tends to tick people off. lucky for us, i'm good with difficult people.

i enjoy walking my dog, but do wish she'd learn to walk faster. she wants to stop and smell everything which doesn't give much exercise.

i have to do rounds again and clean my office, so chat tomorrow.

morning seams.
