I have a Toshiba Mini netbook and the touchpad has been giving me grief. Part of the problem is if my left palm touches it, it gets confused. But sometimes when that isn't the issue, it locks up, doesn't want to go the direction I need it to, and I sit there flailing my middle finger around (not in the air, it's my touchpad finger) until it finally clicks and works great.

Running Windows XP btw and I have upgraded to 2gb of ram.

So far I've tried covering the left part of the touchpad (to keep from palming it), watching my RAM (possible correlation here, as a slight drop sometimes causes a lockup OR a sluggish response, but there's still tons of RAM around (over 1k MB). I've also tried Rambooster with no improvement.

I'm considering reinstalling the driver after a backup. Is there something that's keeping ram from 'reaching' the touchpad (some allocation problem?)

Thoughts?

I've seen a driver issue that ate up resources enough to do what you describe, consistently.

Try a new driver. If it still doesn't work, search for compatible drivers and try one (from a safe place, please ;)).

That doesn't mean it is the problem, of course, but it definitely could be.

ETA: actually, I should describe it as a loop -- a bug (a conflict kind). So more RAM wasn't going to help. To be more clear, lol :)
