This just in from The Weather Channel for the New Jersey coast: "AS A NOR EASTER INTENSIFIES OFF THE NEW JERSEY AND DELAWARE
COASTS WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO AROUND
45 MPH MAINLY DURING WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING. IF THE
STRONG WINDS COINCIDE WITH THE HEAVY SNOW...BLIZZARD CONDITIONS
ARE POSSIBLE AND IT MIGHT BECOME NECESSARY TO ISSUE A BLIZZARD
WARNING FOR ALL OR PART OF THIS AREA. EXPECT POWER OUTAGES AND
POSSIBLY LOCALIZED PROPERTY DAMAGE FROM THE COMBINATION OF THE
SNOW AND STRONG WINDS."

I cross-checked it with NOAA and yep--could be another blizzard.

Great. Matches my personality.

ETA: JerseyChick--you should change the title of this thread to "BLIZZARDS of 2010." Add that "s."

if i tell you, will you promise to stalk me?
There's a snowstorm currently brewing and inching this way....about 3-4 inches by the time i get off work. I am not looking forward to the 40 minute drive back home in rush-hour traffic.

It's been snowing here since the middle of last night. For a while this afternoon, snowflakes as big as my hand were falling. It was lovely. The roads? not so much. Navigating through hordes of non-drivers who just HAD to get one...more...thing from Krogers before the snow emergency was declared was not pleasant--especially after a root canal. The temp warmed just enough to give us a nice glaze of ice over everything and now is falling almost as quickly as the winds are picking up. Six inches today, another 2-4 inches tonight with another 2-4 inches forecast for tomorrow and 40 mph winds.

*sigh*

Moving truck postponed on me AGAIN damnit.

They are saying 14 inches total for my area, and yet apparently it is illegal to drive all day tomorrow. We got over 20 inches in this weekend, yet they did not declare a state of emergency then. What the hell, New Jersey?

The fed is closed yet again tomorrow... still calling for 10-14" here. Thankfully I'm well stocked on groceries but the high winds worry me (tomorrow)...

GF and I hit the store last night. Geez, they were still short on groceries from last Thursdays rush.

Making a big pot of chili tonight. Forgot the beer so we are using wine...yummy. If we lose power, I will heat it up on my camp stove...outside.

Had 1 inch when I got off work at 6, and another inch by 7 and we are now up to almost 4 inches by my trusty yardstick. At this rate, we will be getting more than the 12 inches they are forecasting for my area.

I was reading a NOAA winter prediction for FEB on Saturday and it basicly said to get use to this system as we are in for a storm a week for the month of Feb along the mid Atlanta and Northeast. Thank you El-Nino.

semilarge - I can only guess that the reason no all-out emergency was declared last weekend was because only the southern portion of New Jersey was affected by heavy snow, whereas this time it's the whole state, with most of us in a blizzard warning area.

I and Mr. Mela have off from work today - my boss emailed at 6 a.m. that we were closing. I wouldn't have gone in anyway but at least now I don't have to use up a personal day.

Mr. Mela's sleeping right now - I'm listening to Beethoven's 9th and doing some writing. The snow was heavy for a while and now lighter - it's 8 a.m. and they say the storm won't get really cranking until this afternoon. That doesn't bother me as much as the high winds they're predicting. We're going to try and call up for a plow to do our driveway tomorrow morning. There's no way I'm shoveling 18 inches of heavy snow.

I heard that on the weather channel last week before the blizzard hit DC. And I see from watching the news this morning there's another storm setting up for Monday.

What's really freaky is that the farmer's almanac predicted this - a blizzard for the Northeast in mid February. Wow.

...cause sometimes you just need a slap on the hea
First, I would like to say that this poll should be slightly tweaked to Blizzard(s) 2010.

That being said, I have not had school (I teach) for essentially 2 weeks (2 days last week, none so far this week and I don't expect any either-- sigh), but I've been working almost full time at my "part"-time job.

I have nothing to add to this thread, as I live near Atlanta and we got OMG A FLURRREEEE this morning and that was it.

I just wanted to come stare at your signature picture for a while. :faint:

Same Psychosis...different day.
Hello all, and greetings from where Interstate 270 meets interstate 495 in Maryland....

Yanno...I really should be writing, or maybe even doing my taxes.

I admit that, I really do!

Anything except hanging out on line and mindlessly watching the tv.

Yep.

But, you see, well, my dish is still clear, and there is a heck of a lot of junk TV I haven't watched.

I'm probably going to do some baking. This kind of stuff kind of lends itself to that pursuit.

Here...watch the cameras....

West of DC, we did not get hit as hard as they predicted...so far. Only about 5 inches, but the damn wind is blowing what we did get all around and everything is frozen. Can't even see the pavement on the roads and the plows have been going up and down, up and down the main road every 15 minutes.

Right now its very light, small fluffy stuff. Does anyone have a snow mobile I can borrow?
