"My Immortal" be Evanescence. I can't even listen to it. It tears my heart to pieces.

There's a song by the Ramones (it may only be on one of the CDs in the box set) called "I Don't Want To Live This Life Anymore." That one sucker-punched me. I wasn't expecting it to be so shattering.

A song that breaks my heart is He Stopped Loving Her Today performed by George Jones and written by R. V. Braddock and C. Putman, Jr.

Sincerely,
Gehanna

Well, not really a song, more a piece of music. From a TV show. Doctor Who specifically. It's called "Doomsday" by Murray Gold from the episode of the same name. Breaks my heart into pieces every time I hear it.

Please don't hate me for digging up a sort of old thread, but I finally heard the new Susan Boyle CD. I've loved her voice from the first time I heard it on YouTube "Britain's Got Talent" but her rendition of Madonna's "You'll See" gets to me. She said it's about all the labels given to her in her younger years and how her mother always wanted her to "be something."

ETA: Makes me cry, not from sadness, but from the emotion evoked from her singing and why that song means so much to her.

Ave Maria
I have a small collection of Ave Maria mp3s that I'm afraid to put on my iPod because I have enough on it that reduces me to a puddle of tears. My favorites are by Nina Hagen, Soundgarden, and somebody playing it on an ocarina.

These three get me every time:

Eels with Hey Man (Now You're Really Living) ("Do you know what it's like to care too much/about someone that you're never gonna get to touch?" Preach it.)

Hazel O'Connor's Will You. It breaks my heart every time I listen to it. My god, the sax solo (begins about 2:41 and continues to the end)...

Primitive Radio Gods' Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth With Money in My Hand.
Am I alive or thoughts that drift away?
Does summer come for everyone?
Can humans do as prophets say?
And if I die before I learn to speak
Can money pay for all the days I lived awake
But half asleep?

When She Loved Me from Toy Story 2 sung by Sarah MacLaughlin though I'll admit, recalling the movie during the song makes it all the more of tear-jerker.

North Country Blues by Joan Baez (a Dylan song)

Theme from the movie Missing by Vangelis

Between real life and imagination
I know its cliche, but My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion is pretty tough to get through.

Otherwise I Dreamed A Dream and On My Own from Les Miserables, Parting and Brothers from Full Metal Alchemist, and If I Can't Love Her from Beauty and the Beast.

I am a pretty emotional person, so a lot of songs make me tear up. Some of the best are:

"Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton. He is one of my favorite artists, and it is such a beautiful/sad song. The story alone would always get me, and now that I have kids, it is much worse. A year ago my dad told me he wants it played at his funeral.

"God Bless the U.S.A" - not sure who it is by. But I used to sing it on Flag day when I was in school every year. Mad eme tear up then. It holds even more meaning for me now with everything going on in Iraq and Afganistan, and the fact that my husband was a soldier (did two tours in Iraq).

On that same note, SheDaisy's "Come Home Soon", Trace Adkin's "Arlington", "If I don't Make It Back" by Tracy Lawerence, Tim McGraw's "If You're Reading This", and "Didn't I" by Montgomery Gentry. All songs about the war and being a soldier. It was worse for me when my husband was deployed, but even hearing them now will bring me back to that time, wondering if he was coming home.

"You Can Let Go" by Crystal Shawanda. Another country song, they sure know how to make tearjerkers, LOL. This one is about a girl and her father.
Wind blowin’ on my face
Sidewalk flyin’ beneath my bike
A five year-old’s first taste
Of what freedom’s really like
He was runnin’ right beside me
His hand holdin’ on the seat
I took a deep breath and hollered
As I headed for the street

You can let go now, Daddy
You can let go
Oh, I think I’m ready
To do this on my own
It’s still a little bit scary
But I want you to know
I’ll be ok now, Daddy
You can let go

I was standin’ at the altar
Between the two loves of my life
To one I’ve been a daughter
To one I soon would be a wife
When the preacher asked,
‘Who gives this woman?’
Daddy’s eyes filled up with tears
He kept holdin’ tightly to my arm
‘Till I whispered in his ear

You can let go now, Daddy
You can let go
Oh, I think I’m ready
To do this on my own
It still feels a little bit scary
But I want you to know
I’ll be ok now, Daddy
You can let go

It was killin’ me to see
The strongest man I ever knew
Wastin’ away to nothin’
In that hospital room
‘You know he’s only hangin’ on for you’
That’s what the night nurse said
My voice and heart were breakin’
As I crawled up in his bed, and said

You can let go now, Daddy
You can let go
Your little girl is ready
To do this on my own
It’s gonna be a little bit scary
But I want you to know
I’ll be ok now, Daddy
You can let go
You can let go

I am incredibly close to my father, and have good memories of the first two events. And though I think he has 15 to 20 good years left, my father is getting older and the thought that one day I will not have him in my life anymore is very hard for me. Damn, I am crying just thinking about it.
