How can I make my Superman avatar bigger?

As you can see I have a Superman avatar, but I want to make it big and easy to see like many other people's.

This file of Superman I have on my PC is just a jpeg, but when I try and save it as my avatar the site tells me it's too big. I tried editing the file in windows pain but could only get it to the size required for AW when I made it as small as it is now.

Please help! Many thanks.
