I've put a query in the SYW section which ends with this paragraph:
Earlier this year I released BLOOD WITNESS as a podcast audio book to help build a following and gauge its potential market. To date over 60,000 episodes have been downloaded, and downloads are continuing at the rate of about 5,000 episodes a month. Based on the feedback and reviews, the book appeals to horror fans, ex-Jehovah's Witnesses (like me) and action fans.
I know this might turn off old school agents who don't like, or are unfamiliar, with this technique for building an audience, but they're not the right agents for me. I'm thinking that more savvy agents will be familiar with Cory Doctorow, Scott Sigler, Mingoin Fogerty, J. C. Hutchins and other authors whose podiobooks led to getting published and, in the case of Sigler and Fogerty, resulted in NYT bestsellers. Such agents will see the my podiobook as a good thing, and it might make them more likely to ask for a look at the book.
I'd like to hear what agents think about this.
