Haha, well it wasn't quite thinking ayamaru was thanks, it was looking at the kanji and not reading the kanji. I looked at it and say "oh that's the kanji for thanks...that doesn't make much sense..." lol. Whereas I should have looked at the word itself and...yeah haha. I suck. Seriously guys 日本語の小説でも何の問題なく読めるよ! My Japanese really isn't that bad! Unless you listen to me talk, but I'm not trying to go into business to talk, I'm trying to go into business to read. ;)

Good job with the short story, Jeseymour! :) And Ken, if it counts for anything, I saw your word count at the bottom there and went woohoo, you're almost at 10k! :)

I'm still stuck on my bit from Chapter 1. I can't decide if it really needs to change, my reader is out of town so I can't ask, and I'm just stumped. I have a really hard time just going on to a different part and working on that until this is figured out.

Hit my goal today, 2681 (actually 5 words over goal!). And I realized that earlier in the month (5-7), I wrote nearly 26k in three days. (I wouldn't have gone looking for that number, only someone on the NaNo boards was complaining of having no competition, and thus no motivation, due to writing 14k in three days and finishing the 50k so early... so I had to provide some decent competition.)

Was your goal actually 2676, or was this a case of, "aiming for 80k and finally hit it and that happened to be 2681?" I figure it's the latter, but the former amuses me. :tongue

I haven't done squat today, but I finally did actually put up a beta request for my first chapter (it's too long for SYW). Maybe I'll be able to get some people to read it for me and finally figure out what to do with these two scenes I'm feeling insecure about. Anyway, I'm off to have dinner now, and I'm going to go into another town and probably hand-edit while I eat, so I should have something to show for myself later. At least I'm at the part now I'm feeling confident about.

AWESOME job everyone!

Going to try to get some writing and, *sigh*, editing done today. Put the first part of chapter 5 on the SYW and got some good feedback. (608 words.)

kaitie, yes, almost 10k! Hope to push past that today and possibly hit 11k. (But I'm still going to see 2012.:tongue)

Going to watch movies when you should be home writing! I'm appalled!

Uh...which means I probably shouldn't mention that I spent most of the day doing nothing. Yup, just outright nothing. :tongue Playing on the computer, talking on the phone, doing laundry. Okay so that last bit was a teensy bit constructive, but not nearly what it should have been.

Anyway, I did work some while having dinner, and I plan to go to bed here in a few and finish the hand-edits of Chapter 7. Finding more and more things that will have to change if I really do change the stuff in Chapter 1, but we'll see how that goes.

Hey, got to have some "mindless" entertainment once in a while. Right?

Good luck with Chapter 1, I'm sure you will get it worked out.

Ken, I'm being forced to go see going to see 2012 tonight. I'll let you know how it is.

A bit off topic, but what did you think of 2012? I thought some of it was a bit “convenient”. Like the part where their plane is running out of fuel over the Pacific, supposedly thousands of miles from land, and viola, land appears. But you have to admit the special effects were incredible.

Sorry, don't mean to spoil it for those who have not see it yet.

Well, back to the WIP!

Actually the former. :D Official NaNo goal is 1667... my original (double) goal was 3334... but since I finished the 50k early, I averaged out what was left to still finish around the end of the month.

Holy cow, chica! That's awesome. :) You could even slack off some now and still make it. ;)
Heh -- yeah, doing that. And then rushing to make up daily counts before midnight. Not the best system, but whatever works...

Oh, yeah, and no words again today. :(

I think you should color. (Like in a coloring book.) Something creative that isn't writing...

I'm holding steady at around 5k for a nonfic piece I'm working on, with additions and (editorial) subtractions.

3448 today - ran out of patience for the detecting scenes, so I threw in a lurve scene **fans self**

If any of you guys want to see my progress in chart form, here is the link to my NaNo page (you just need to click on the "Nano Stats" tab to see the chart).

Yes, I'm blatantly approval-seeking :D :D :D

PS If you visit, please ignore the title and novel informationn - i decided that the story "The Last Murderess in England" required a lot more nursing than I could give it while NaNo-ing so I'm actually writing a much different story, a historical mystery set in 1920s England.

Impressive stats Steam. If I could get rolling like that, I could knock this WIP out in 20 days? Yeah, and maybe I'll win the lottery tonight.

Thanks, Ken :) I know heaps of Wrimos have already knocked the 50k off, but I'm proud of my efforts anyway, because up until 13th November I wasn't able to start for a number of resons. So (as you same from the chart) pretty much all my words have been put down in the last nine days.

Of course, I can't say anything as to QUALITY...

In the land of AW's... /oz/ get it???
Quality... I am sure it is wonderful... When you finally get into the groove, I have found that quality just happens... GrooveLESS well, not much quality comes from that.

Not very eloquent, but probably true!

I am actually here to report that from the 50 or so novels I have read the past 2 months have given me hope again! I have pulled my baby (abandoned WIP) out of the trash and am editing again! Added several hundred words this morning, getting ready to type it in... will let ya know!

Good luck all! Sounds like great things are happening this November!

ETA: I just edited 32 pages... making the total for the day 57 pages edited and over a thousand new words... yippee!

You're quite welcome, and I meant it. So what if most of it was done in the past few days, what matters is that you did it, period.

Hettie, good luck on the revived WIP, and WTG on the edits!:)

Got another 573 knocked out today, so far. Trying to close out chapter 5, but it's being stubborn. Just when I think I have it tied up, WHAM, something else pops up that needs to be done. I'm already at 2344 on the wc, trying to keep it under 25k, so I may have to cut something else. We'll see.

Good luck to all, keep pounding those keyboards.

Well, wrapped up chapter 5 and kept it under 25k, barely. (2454) Added 110 words from earlier today.

I know it could have gone way over 25k, but I set a goal to keep them all fairly short. The stuff I cut was really superflous anyway, and it needed to be tightened up.

Now on to chapter 6! :D

Good writing and editing, everyone! I am pleased to report that the word fairy did indeed grace me and I knocked out 1410. Of course that was after I reached a detente with Emma: she agreed to be slightly less snivelling and I let her live. Great compromise. I did allow her to keep one amusing but still twit-like line, but deep-sixed the rest. Now I can get on to the punching.

In other news, does anyone know where the term "deep-six" comes from?
