For those keeping track of response times, I sent Joanna and Nancy my full on 6/8 and still haven't heard anything from either of them, good or bad. Figure I'll give it until the middle of Sept. before I send them a nudge.

Queried Joanna 9/15, rejection received 9/20. Fast footwork.

Joanna is an awesome lady and a great agent from what I hear. I queried her a while ago and she had requested a full. Within that time, I got an offer from another agent and let her know about it. She said she had too much client work to do to get to my manuscript within my time frame, so even though she hated to, she'd have to step away and not counter. She's really personable and nice and I hear she even rejects with style.

Her and I still keep up correspondence through email. How many agents who aren't yours can you say that about? If I wasn't with the agent I am now, I know she would be the one I'd want.

Nope. Not a peep. 'Course, I haven't emailed her yet. I was hoping to have some good news to nudge her with (another contest final, interest from an editor). No go on both counts. :( Guess I'll have to send her a plain ol nudge this week.

Well, the wait is over. Got the big R from Joanna today. :( At least I still have a full and a few partials out with other agents. Maybe one of them will bite.

For those wanting to know about response times, I queried Joanna about the second week of September and she requested a full a week later, still waiting to hear back from her (though it's only been three weeks).

Sent her a query on adult fiction via snail mail and got a form rejection eleven days later.

Hi all
Forgot to post, Joanna rejected the full. Took about 6 weeks. She used a one sentence letter that looked suspiciously like a form letter 'loved the concept, voice didn't connect with her'.

That's it. I'm convinced. Queries were invented to torment writers.

You are so right, soulcascade. Sorry about the R.

This must be one of the most posted strings about an agency. It tooks me two hours to read all the posts. The Nancy Coffey Agency sounds like a dream agency. Congrats to everyone with success and good luck to anyone waiting.

Submitted snail mail query 10/13
Request for 50 pages 10/23
Sent 50 pages 10/25
Request for full 10/27
Sent email and snail mail 10/27

Partial Request

I got a partial request from Joanna on 11/2 and I'm really on pins and needles. I just found this message board and read through all the entries. Why, oh why did I have to finally find Ms. Stampfel-Volpe in November instead of in June? (Actually I'm glad I didn't. My MS wasn't ready then.) But seriously, have you guys seen the awesome activity that occurred for other AW writers back then? P.S. I can't wait to read The Duff, it sounds great! :)

Thanks Terry! Good luck on your full! That was a fast request from a partial, I've got my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks Blind Writer! I was so excited reading through all those entries in May and June, each post getting me closer to the payoff... Then AW started scheduled maintenance and I had to wait *hours* to find out what happened. Oh, the humanity.

I can't even imagine how exciting it must have been in real life!!!

Haha! So cute! YOu pretty much read the thread like a novel then? lol.

It was really exciting - and still is! So much ahead.
