About a month and a half. It seems kind of quick, now that I think about it. Oo Her personality does a complete 360 in that span of time. Ah well. I'll try to see to that later.
With my pending rethink of The Plague Year, it will take place over about two years. I'll be dropping the protag's age from seventeen to sixteen at the start so as to keep her within YA range.
Partings and Greetings goes from October to October, from near the start of a school year to one of the protag's leaving for University.
My novel, High School Heroes, covers 5 months. I start on the first day of school and end at the beginning of February. The second part (which I've only done a couple chapters of so far, will finish out the school year.
Keeping track of time lines is somewhat important in my fantasy writing and I realized this early on and created a time line chart so I did not become confused. Last thing I want is a reader pointing out inconsistent time intervals...
Prophecy of the Gods spans about 6 months...
Prophecy of the Elves spans about 9 months...
Prophecy of the Desert will span about 12 months, but takes place 15 years after the previous book ends...
My other non fantasy works usually span a weekend to maybe 3 months...
My current WIP, has already covered 4 months, 17 000 words in. Fiddling with my synopsis a bit - looks to span 3 years - but unsure if I should or not, by then the main protagonists will be 21 -22 years old... so still considering changing the direction a bit to keep it (and the issues) YA
Hi, this is my very first post here in the AW and found this question to be of interest to me. I recently finished my first novel (queries just sent out to agents two days ago).
my story takes place over 3 weeks but the majority of the story occurs in 10 days.
We just submitted a one-shot premise that takes place primarily over a period of about 6 days, though there is a final section taking place about three weeks after that, covering one day more.
