I was thinking about this last night after writing a particularly delicious problem for my poor female MC.

For one, brief, fading moment, I wished I had a husband, or some other captive to talk about it with.

My family (long distance) couldn't be less interested.

I settled for the cat while she was destroying the curtains.

It's what I got.

You could solve the problem by not muttering.

Ah, but if I don't let out the mutter, hardware tends to get broken.

Cheaper to mutter tbh. Plus it means he helps. :D He's good at throwing out really wild ideas that spark something off.

My last gf was the opposite. I couldn't get an oz of original, crazy idea out of her. But you know what, she was really good at dissecting what I already had, seeing holes in the logic.

The weird thing is, he's only started reading in the last few years ( he was undiagnosed dyslexic, but I noticed cos my brother is too. Anyway, reading was HARD. So I found some stuff that was nice and easy to read and fun - thanks Pratchett - and.. he was so proud the day he finished LOTR) but I'll give him a scene and say / think a vague 'I'm not happy with this' and he'll pinpoint exactly what's wrong with it.

Only trouble is of course it takes him a while to read a whole MS. Unless I put sex scenes in, then he's on them like a shot :D
