Hi Folks,

I had an idea to help any of us who might be suffering from NaNo overload. Of course, this is open to anyone who needs to take a quick break from their current WIP and hit "RESET" in the old brain.

So, here's the challenge:

Character Assasination--Kill Off Your MC
Flash Fiction (500-1000 words)

The rules are simple, write a flash fiction story where your main character dies in the end. Do it any way you like; be ruthless, be tame, it doesn't matter. If at all possible, pick a genre you don't normally write in. That is always helpful for me if I need to clear my head. So if you write horror, maybe try a romance (but how romantic can it be if the voluptuous redhead gets swallowed by an anaconda after a romantic interlude in the rainforest?), or if you write westerns, try sci/fi. You get the idea.

When you finish your story you can post it in Share Your Work under the appropriate genre listing, and provide a link to it here. If you don't know how to embed a link, PM me and I'll walk you through it.

The important thing is to have fun.

Lawdy, I'm looking at the 11/16 flash fictions to see if I missed reading and commenting on any and I see your post buried in there. I'm assuming it was moved here from another location. So that being said, I'll play along probably tomorrow but in the meantime this will bump the thread to the top of the FF forum.

I was pondering various modes of demise on my way home from work yesterday. This is just the kind of sick literary license that makes me proud to call myself a writer. Heck, I'm always killing off characters in my flashes. LOL

I hope you're on the upswing, Steven. I was amazed when you were even trying to write in your hospital bed this past summer.

Thanks a lot, it means a great deal to me the support I've gotten from my friends in this forum. Writing is so theraputic, but I knew better than to get mixed up in NaNo this year, ha-ha. In a lot of ways I'm still recovering from the surgery and the more than a dozen times in the ER before it, and our new baby just turned six months the 13th. So there's a lot slowing me down. Not that I'm complaining. Whatever my word count ends up as, I started a new novel, I have my Fall Challenge one at 28,000, so I can flop back and forth as needed.

Off to read "The Last Kiss."

This thread was inadvertantly moved into the wrong sub-forum. I believe this is a good spot for it. :)
