I recognize Kitty Pryde's query as one of the entries. Good luck, Kitty!

Great idea for a contest, and the grand prize can't be beat.

I wish I could enter, but Gabriel still needs more work--when will it end?

After a few months of sending out quries, no one's interested.

I had to do more rearranging and adding. It's been slow going...

Hi, C.J. I spent the entire day yesterday editing and rewriting my query. I hate writing them. You have to find a different voice. :( It’s so hard. A critter eventually told me my query was too long, so I chopped it down to the bone. Now I hope it’s not too short.

Anyway I have entered the competition. I jumped in like Kitty Pride and Karen Collum and posted it on the blog instead of sending an email.

At least AW is getting a few links too. :)

You’ll get there in the end CJ, just keep going. I’d love to see Gabriel published.

Good luck Kitty and Karen. :)

Trish.

Did she post a winner?

The websites says 11/4, but I don't see any updates?

I didn't enter, but was pulling for a AW member to win.

Hi,
They did announce the winners. go to www.kidlit.com and scroll down through the different posts of the winners. I believe at least 2 of them were AWers. And another AWer got an agent because someone saw her query in the comments. I'm having a memory fail ATM. Sadly, none of the winners were me :) That's ok, I'm going to be brave and jump on the query-go-round anyways.

ETA: One of them was Madison.

It's too bad you didn't win. But WOW, I can't believe someone got an agent out of it. I'll check it out tonight before I sit down to write; just for some inspiration.

I didn't win a prize, but I got a fantastic email from Mary Kole (Re: Andrea Brown Agency) She said although I wasn't picked as a winner she'd love to read a sample of my writing. She asked me to email the first ten pages of my manuscript to her. I couldn't believe it. I'm so excited. I gave it one more edit then sent it off.

My fingers and toes are crossed.

Nice! Congrats. I love Molly Gumnut! :D Are you querying your stuff elsewhere as well?

Sorry to hear you didn't win, Kitty Pryde. But, congrats to those of you who did (or found some other good fortune, like Trish there)!

Thanks, KittyPride. I really thought you would have won a prize. You wrote a great query letter and I love what I've read of your MS. I'm sure your MS will get snapped up one day soon.

Thanks Viking Horse. I think Blogging, Twitter and Facebook helps.

That's great news Trish! It's so good to see people on the boards finding success (yes, I know it's not publishing success, least not yet)

When you say you think blogging, twitter and facebook help, how do you mean?

Do you mean they gave you more exposure, which helped you get an agent's attention?

Mware01, Yes, Blogging, Twitter and Facebook do give you more exposure. I came across the contest through blogging and networking. An Aussie author told me about the blog that held the competition. If you go to the blog, you’ll see Mary Kole’s critiques of the query letters.

I already had a Blog, Twitter account and Facebook. I didn’t use Facebook as much as Twitter and blogging, but I do now. You never know what you might hear or what contest is on. You can even chat to agents and publishers.

Trish - I haven't checked out the contest and winners yet, but wanted to say yay and congratulations on having someone ask to see your work. Molly's long been one of my favorites!

So way to go, lady. I'm really happy for you, and my fingers are crossed.

Sissy

Thanks, Sissy and Judy. You've both helped me to learn, and I appreciate that.

Where would I be without the lesson on story structure, Judy? And Sissy encouraged me to keep Molly outrageous.

My fingers and toes are crossed, but even if the agent doesn’t like what she reads, I'm still happy to get this far and I’ve learned even more about writing a query letter.

Trish.

WTG, Trish!

I hope she loves Molly as much as I do.
If I were an agent, she would have been published long ago.

Thanks Michael. I wouldn't have got this far without your help. I think you gave me my very first critique. I'm not sure if it was 'Molly Breaks the Wall' or 'Molly in the Brickfield' Or maybe it was 'Molly Loves Gum'. I haven't used any of those stories in my MS yet, but I might add them one day.

In this book, Molly does do outrageous things. I think she's gotten worse.

Thanks so much for the encouragement.

Trish.
