Sleep... Those little slices of Death. How I loath
I am stealing your words, Bettielee, I am channeling them as we speak, er, write... Hey, I gotta do something to catch up! I'm like 6,000 words behind. But I am writing tonight/this morning, so that's good!

oh no! word siphonage!

I am also trying to keep my goals and progress in relation to myself... in other words... trying not to get all bummed over the people kicking out 35,000 words and up so far....

20k is farkin' amazing for me, considering I was only writing 1000 words a day while writing the last 3/4 of my 2nd Dragongar book.

This is why I don't like NANO, it
doesn't go to quality but quantity.
So in one month you write 50K
and then in the next two months you,
edit and edit and edit, come up with
new ideas, characters, and plot twist and then
insert those reshuffle edit some more.

I'd rather be inspired, then pushed into
writing. I'd rather write quality, and only
have to edit once or twice, and have
a concise tight manuscript.

Just me though, different strokes -
for different folks.

Chapter 33 done 2130 words
72,980 words on my WIP
Time Sweep, started June 15
Summer Challenge.

I'm glad NaNo is pushing me, because without it I winge away, and don't get anywhere. I would much rather get the story out there and figure out what goes into slot a and b, then edit and make it read more purty after, instead of writing two paragraphs, being dissatisfied and winging about it and trying to fix it instead of writing two more pages.

The first draft is gonna be crap anyway. This way, I get my crap finished faster and then get to editing. I don't rearrange much, and I NEVER add major story arcs or characters after the fact. So its working for me. I've never gotten this much in one week.

The point of it is to teach you to just write. Everything can be fixed later. If it works for you to spend three hours searching for the perfect word, or three seconds, that's great. But the only way to complete a novel is to write. That's the point of NaNo--novels are tens of thousands of words, so quantity is certainly important. But an average novel is 80,000 words, so a 50,000 word first draft is really an outline anyway. Just my twelve cents;)

Another 3000+ words today! whoooooo! It is getting so exciting... I am laying down the bricks of my plot. I feared the romance was going to be clunky, but I maneuvering my characters so they will have no CHOICE but to fall in the lurve!! :)

I'm falling behind on my NaNo because I just can't teach myself to write in the NaNo way. I agonize over my words. I want to do and I'm still not giving up. I got 2,003 words yesterday and I made it through a scene that I was avoiding, so I'm happy.

You guys are really tearing through all this. I haven't gotten any work done in the last little while. The flu has torn through my family.

Sorry, been sick. Slept away most of Tuesday and Wednesday, but I've written two pages so far tonight. I know I won't win NaNo... I'm too far behind to catch up, but I will have a hell of a good start on the novel, and then I can focus on both the Summer/Fall Challenge novel (Kept), and the NaNo one (Probing Evil). I like to have more than one project to work on, then I can write until I run out of steam on one and switch. You're doing great though, Bettielee!! I'm so proud of you!!

Thanks! I'm trying to give you some fairy dust! It doesn't matter if you finish - you got a book started!
Thanks:Hug2:! I won't let it get me down, I knew going in it was going to be hard. Maybe next year my health and everything will be a little more stable, and I can do better. I'll be happy with whatever I get finished with this year.
