Well, finally got a start on chapter 3, and what a start. 535 words in the last 50 minutes!:e2woo:

I finally heard back from my NYPD source, he was on Protection Duty from Sunday through today, so couldn't get to his e-mail. But I got the info I needed to get going. I have my MC and her partner down at the ME's office and needed some technical info. I tried calling the OCME in New York, but they kept telling me to leave a message and someone would call me back. I guess they don't like writers.

They could just be really busy, too. :)

Anyway, I just finished Chapter 12. Woohoo! Final count is -3,313 for the chapter. I'd go find a Snoopy dance but I'm too lazy at the moment. Anyway, my current count is 137k. :D Gonna finish 13 tonight.

Good going!

Much more satisfied with today's wordses (2215 -- though the Infernal Editor still babbles away in the background). A lot of the previous will either be moved to backstory or worked in later; now I'm getting to the beginning of the interesting part.

You too! Great wordses count.

(Is that a word?) :D

Tell the Infernal Editor to shut up. Nothing worse than having a distraction like that.

I'm back, though I'm still not certain what time zone I'm in. This was one of those trips where I need to come back home to get some rest. My niece's wedding went just fine and I got to see family I haven't seen for a while, so that was good.

Slow start so far on NaNo. I'm up to 3487 words total, but I'm looking forward to picking up the pace this weekend.

:Sun: and :poke:, everyone!

Just so I know, who all is doing NaNo? I know a few are, but I'm not certain on everyone.

Anyway, good luck TheIT. 3,400 isn't a bad start at all. :)

Finished Chapter 13, and cut -1,113 words. Actually surprised I managed that many because it was a really short chapter.

Soooo, second major whack everything draft is DONE!!! Current word count is 136k. Still more than it should be, but I've managed to get down quite a bit from the 185k I started with. Going to fix a couple of things and then print it off again and give it another read through. This next one shouldn't take so long because it shouldn't require many big drastic changes. Mostly I'm going for making sure it sounds good. Anyway wee!

NaNo here (if it wasn't obvious).

And, um, well... 9441 today; total 23542 for NaNo. Spreadsheet goal said 7K today, and, well...

About 1200 words tonight, and a vague idea of the next two scenes. The villain gets to interview two of my MCs. Should be fun. :D

It's weird trying to change POVs. For most of this last year I've been writing in first person as a different character. Now I'm back to my other two POV characters in third person, and I'm having trouble getting back into their mindsets. At least I'll be getting enough practice soon. ;)

You know, I always love the random bits of stories I hear about. They're so intriguing. I mean the villain is interviewing people? That just leads my mind so many places and has me going "but huh!? Why!? Who!? How!?" Which of course makes me wanna read it haha. :D

1442 for me yesterday, although the last 500 or so seem to be flat. I'm pretty sure my viewpoint character was the wrong one and that I'll have to go back and write it from the other MC's POV.

Kaitie, congrats on finishing your Big Cut!

TheIT, welcome back.

And Annie... there just are. No. Words. (Except this: did your eyes fall out?)

Not a NaNoer, but I am in awe of you all.

First of all, sorry for being late in welcoming TheIT back. (Funny, I thought I did this yesterday. Must be losing it.) Great WC on NaNo.

Changing POV's can be daunting, especially if you have become accustome to writing in a certain style. Just keep going, it will come back to you. (Like ridig a bike.) My first novel, (which was stolen), was in multiple POV's, talk about going crazy keeping it all together.

Second, WTG kaitie! Keep plugging away, you'll get it. That's a BIG cut!

heyjude, hang in there, you will figure it out. (I'm sure it's not that bad.)

Alas, nothing to report on my WIP. Had a rough day yesterday. (Attended my Aunt's funeral. She was only 64.)

Thanks for the welcome backs! My condolences on your loss, Ken.

In my NaNo story, I've set up a situation where both the good guys and the bad guys are in disguise, so it's been tricky remembering who knows what about who and trying to decide when (and if) they're going to reveal their real identities.

Thanks kaitie and TheIT, it is appreciated. She is in a better place now.

:hat: (Shhh. I'm incognito.)

You have piqued my interest. Sounds intriguing. :D

Going to try and get some writing done this weekend, in between errands and things. Have to get a quote on house painting, look for a new dining room table, and a lot of other things that only the joys of home ownership can bring.

Random story snippet: MC is afraid of assassins, so is dropping her children off with her MIL. And is not happy about it.

And, 7475 today.

724 yesterday. I had to rip out about 400 words and get them into the correct POV. Much, much better.

Annie, I have to love any story with assassins and mothers-in-law. Awesome.

Random story snippet from me: boy meets girl, who he finds out is somehow involved in his wife's disappearance.

Managed to get out 118 late last night, along with some edits on chapter 2. Busy day today, so don't know if or when I will get to the WIP.

Everyone is doing awesome, keep it up. Go NaNoer's!

Broke 40K for NaNo today. (and I'm resisting the little siren voice to keep going, lest I be disowned).

NaNo is a high all by itself.

Got 1097 words today. Things are starting to click into place, so hopefully I can keep moving.

Congrats Annie on your amazing word counts!

I'm not doing NaNo this year. Decided it doesn't really work for me. I am, however, trying to keep up some sort of writing pace-- at least 500 words/day. More or less...

I likely won't be doing the souped-up wordcounts again next year. (This year somebody mentioned 50K in 10 days, and I kinda took it as a dare...) I do like the prep I put in this year (though I could've done a lot more that would've helped), and I definitely like the goal spreadsheet, because there's always that just a little more that I can hit. And I figured out a good rate for time-planning purposes (about 1K/hour). What I need to do is figure some kind of spreadsheet to cover the prep, too, and then spread the wordcount over a bit more of a reasonable time frame. And of course figure out editing -- this is (hopefully) the first project to get that far without needing a rewrite (and I haven't done any of the rewrites yet, because of the prep/fixing needed beforehand).

But yeah, those wordcounts definitely get endorphins going. I would've gone back to finish 10K if the game night hadn't gone quite so long.

Annie, I'm floored. That's a lot of words! Are you happy with how it's going quality-wise, or do you not think about that at this stage?

I got maybe 500 today. I'm taking a brief break from the WIP (already) to do some edits on the ms I finished early this summer. It absolutely kills me how bad it is in the beginning, and how good at the end. My challenge is to make it all even (hopefully evenly good, not evenly awful!).
