...There were several other 'experiences' during my investigations, but most of those are in the book. (book title if anyone is interested is Spirits of Georgia's Southern Crescent).
If you're in South Georgia, particularly SouthEast Georgia, I firmly believe the swamp water has something to do with all the 'ghosty' things down there.
I'm from down that way and we had all these branches, creeks and ponds all over the place and some of the weirdest things happened in our area. Family members (the old ones) would tell us about ghosts they saw or heard. Grandma's house and all her land sits on what was once a PoW camp during the Civil War and the dead prisoners are buried out under the oaks in the rear of the horse pasture.
Her house, a very old one built at an angle so the water from mopping the floors could drain, was definitely haunted. We were always hearing voices, footsteps and shadows in that house. Also, one evening, my aunt and I were sitting at the dining room table and the door to the dining room opened against the angle. No doors or windows were open to push it with wind. Besides, it opened and stayed open. To do that meant pressure had to be exerted from the opposite side and held there.
) so at the slightest sound, I tend to wake up. And I sleep with my door closed.
