An editor has requested that I make a 3 min. video showing a close up of me talking about my new parenting book manuscript. He wants to show it to his publicity people and potentially to media people.

I have a fair bit of experience giving presentations and workshops, but I've never done any thing like this.

Oh, and he wants it by Monday. :O

I'd be deeply grateful for tips or suggestions from anyone with media training/experience.

Thanks!

Sheesh, talk about pressure!

Did you make your deadline?

I made a one-hour documentary film for TV and have done lots of TV interviews. And I sometimes do fast news videos for the Web using very simple tools, even my cheapie Flip camera.

It may be too late, but here are a few tips:

Sound is the most important thing. If you can, use a camera that allows you to plug in a microphone, but in any case, tape yourself in a very quiet room -- bad sound is MUCH more annoying than bad video.

In general, keep it simple, use a tripod, have the camera close and try to have 2 or 3 sources of low light -- one in front of you, one directly to the side, and one behind you and a little off to the other side (not in camera range).

if you still need help, give me a holla...
