Hello everyone.

I have written a fantasy novel and have just taken it out of a dark closest after it's six month cool off. I am polishing it now and its taking me around three days per chapter (it's 95000 words and shrinking.)

I work from 10 till 5.30 on my book everyday (While my toddler twins barrel around me and destroy the house.) and then i have a break by reading other peoples writing on here.
I hope to help people in the Syw section with critiques. I posted my first critique but i couldn't find the colored text and I'm not sure how people manage to post those yellow squares of critiqued text. I just used the quote option and highlighted the text and worked my critique over the original, but it is hard to read.

So if anyone can point me to a post about quote options i would be very grateful.

I am floored by how difficult editing and polishing are and i am stunned at how i could have ever thought my book was any good 6 months ago!

If there are any fellow AWs in France i hope you drop me a line and maybe i can critique something for you! In french if u need!

Anyway i look forward to getting to know you all.

Jay

Hi Nickie,
Thank you for the welcome.

I see you write historical romance. My sisters and i have always loved that genre since we were small so thank you for bringing more of it to the world!

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the ‘forum jump’ you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. Most of the SYW areas require the password of ….vista. Good luck.

Hi Jay, welcome!

To do the fancy stuff with you text while critiquing, after you select either "QUOTE" (the person you want to crit) or "GO ADVANCED" (next to "QUICK REPLY," below the box where you enter your replies in every post) use the options just above where you type in your response. You can even select colored text without leaving the regular box -- look above where you enter text. See the one that has an "A" with a black line underneath it (to the right of "U" for underline)? Highlight the text you want to color with your mouse, then click on that "A" and select the color you want it to be.

Seems standard for red to be inserted text, and blue to be thoughts of the critter.

Hope that helps. :)

Hi Jay and welcome from another newbie! I absolutely love fantasy so I am looking forward to hear more about it :)

I'm from the USA, in Maine, but I have a good friend who lives in Marseille (works for WOW) so I've had a chance to do the touristy thing and see Paris and all- good times! Though I am half French (mother's side) I know very little of the language, sadly. Anways - nice to meet you!

Cheers!
