Or kinda/sorta. That is what this sounds like.

Evidently it is called "Halved" and tells about a teenaged girl who meets a vampire, only to discover she is half-vampire herself.

Here is a link, and another in Hebrew.

Is sucking blood kosher?

Interesting question! The victim would have had to have been koshered - put through a koshering process. Also taking life is prohibited by one of the Ten Commandments. But then there is Pekuah Nefesh - which is the lifting of religious restrictions to save a life. So if a Vampyre was in danger of dying (can Vampyres die?) then yes, it would be kosher for them to have a nibble.

How is it possible to be HALF vampire?

And no, I don't think sucking blood could be kosher, since Jewish law prohibits drinking of blood. The process of making an animal's meat kosher involves draining away all blood.

I've seen half-vamps mentioned in novels before.

They're called Dhampirs.

Shechitah allows for rapid draining of most of the blood, but even after koshering the meat, I don't think it is possible to drain away all the blood. I've cooked steaks from kosher butchers that have blood run out them them during the cooking process. Kashrut forbids lots of things - but if eating/drinking a forbidden substance can save a life then Kashrut takes second place to Pekuah Nefesh.
Given that there are specified reasons for not drinking blood given in Leviticus I sort of agree with you Jo.

I seem to recall Leviticus saying specifically that anyone who eats blood must be put to death. (7:26-27)

Do Israeli vampires recoil when presented with the Magen David?
