I love this show! The cast is great, the shows are really interesting. I only started watching the past couple of seasons. I was surprised to find out it first came out in 2005; I thought it went back further.

Lately I've been watching reruns on the ION network.

Any other fans out there?

I often watched it when it first came on. I don't so much anymore; I'm not sure why . . . maybe because something else I want to watch is on at the same time.

Did you ever watch L.A. Dagnet (the one from about 2005)? I didn't until it was already canceled. Now I've watched all the old shows on Hulu.

No, I'm not familiar with this show. What is Hulu?

Hulu is an online TV and movie hosting site. It's free, but they add their own commercials (the good new: the commercials are short; the bad news: they raise the sound volume on the damn things).

They have their own site, or you can go to one like the AOL site: http://television.aol.com/full-episodes

I didn't see any listings for Criminal Minds.

Yep! One of the regular shows I watch. I wish there could be another way for them to explain the terms they use without it seeming like the actual folks that should know it in reality are clueless. It is a technique used in many shows I've found. I realize it is for the viewers benefit and I do appreciate it. Other than this minor issue, adore the show and the cast :)

Do you mean when they use terms like unsub? The only reason I know what that means is because I've read lots of Jeffery Deaver books and he uses the term.

Criminal Minds is a fantastic show with fantastic characters. I was so upset when Mandy Patinkin left, and hated Joe Mantegna at first, but he's grown on me. Matthew Gray Gubler/Spencer Reed is my favorite character on the show.

I've read lots of books about profiling, serial killers, and the BAU (formerly the BSU), so the terminology they use is not unfamiliar to me, but I can see how it might be confusing.

Oh I agree. I love him. So sensitive, sweet and smart.

And I like Penelope Garcia. She is funny, smart, and very likable.

Among many of them. If you notice, everytime a unique term is used or a well known historical figure, they go into 'education mode' and explain to one another what it means. Obviously, it's for our benefit and I'm not complaining, can't really see another way to do it but bleh.

Behind you!
I recently saw the pilot episode on Ion TV, and I found it interesting to see the differences in characters who were not yet fully formed but are now.

Reed was nerdier and less at ease in his own skin, for instance. Garcia was capable, but flighty. Morgan's head wasn't shaved and he was more a hotdog jock. And Hotchner's hair was allowed to flop down in front under duress rather than being under tight control--and get this, he smiled!

Maryn, who found it interesting, just like the pilot for House

*makes note to hunt down pilot episode*

Like dgrintalis, I was disappointed when Mandy Patinkin left the show, but I've always liked Joe Mantegna, so I was pleased with him. I love this show...the writers make me feel a little less twisted about my own writing, heh.

Have watched this from the start. I love it. Whoever did the casting for it did a fine job.

OK,

I've watched it a couple of times and I like it too...
...but I do have one question: What IS an unsub?

It stands for unknown subject--the person who committed the crime(s).

It was different for me because I wasn't watching the show when Mandy Patinkin was one of the cast. I have since seen shows with him and I think he was very good.

But when I started watching, Joe Mantegna had come on board so I wasn't missing anybody. I like him a lot. The whole cast is great and has such good chemistry.

I used to watch it when it came just before Prison Break.
I liked it, also preferred Mandy Patinkin but didn't dislike Mantegna either. It's a show I can watch but I don't have to, because of the different stories each week. I prefer the series you have to keep watching all the way through - like 24 or Lost.
