I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I have a question and can't seem to find just a general board to ask it on...

I'm new, as evidenced by my baby-sized post count, and am trying to work up the courage to post some of my work here. The thing is, I don't have that much confidence, and to top it off I write what I would classify as a mixture of fantasy and Horror, so, where would I post it?

Was it hard for everyone to post the very first snippet of work? I'm unpublished as of yet, apart from a poem some years ago, and, like I said, not confident I should post where so many professionals are. It's kind of daunting.

So, yeah, I think that about covers it.

Thanks for your time.

Hi Ari:

Browse the Share Your Work section of the boards. You might find that you'll get some good advice for revision. The password is vista. The password isn't meant to keep people out, but to protect your rights so that you can sell your writing later.

Get an idea of what's there and maybe you'll feel more comfortable about putting your work on display.

Also, if you have any questions, post them and someone will always be around to direct you to the right location if you need it. AbsoluteWrite is a big place, but we have an enormous amount of talent and experience to share.

Welcome!

Dear friend--don't be intimidated by any of us--we're all in the same boat here. I'm whatcha might call semi-pro, and I'm always jittery about putting things up on the board, and have been for a long while. But you know, it's great medicine for what ails ya. Trust me, what goes on here, stays here, and there are some wonderful, extraordinary critters in this writing university. You'll get great advice that will prep you for the big world. I play "turkey" and let em baste me often, because I realize that other minds and eyes can give me a good constructive view of what I've done, or what I'm trying to accomplish. Our theme here is "respect your fellow writer" and it shows. So, by all means, take that plunge.

Go to the horror or fantasy section--doesn't matter. Wait patiently for responses--sometimes it takes awhile so don't get discouraged.

Plunge in. You're welcome here.

Emeraldcite: Yeah, I've been browsing those forums hehe, reading a bit etc, just trying to get a feel. I just feel a little nervous and overwhelmed I guess. I thank you for the welcome and advice :) I'm just a little apprehensive lol. I'll get the courage!!! At least, I will if loving writing has anything to do with it. :) Thanks again.

Triceretops: Thank you! Just taking that first step will probably take me a little bit, and I'm not sure I'm qualified to comment on anyone else's work. But I will try and build up a bit more confidence. Everyone seems so nice so far, it shouldn't be too hard to feel at home :)
Thank you :)

*nods*Did...Thanks... I think I'm going to wait a while before plunging again. I'll be here though, and giving up on older fics for a while. I'll work on recent stuff. For the most part everyone seems nice... Again, thanks for the welcome :)
