How many of you are now IRS Auditors? (Not what you think)

I used to work at a gas station. Now I go in there all the time and my old customers (who I love and miss dearly) would ask what I do now. I say Im working on a manuscript and I get "Oh your writing a script? for what? What's it about? I know how to act." You know in the V8 commercial where people get hit in the forehead, I want to do that to all of them and walk away.

Every time I tell somebody I work at a bank, they ask for some free samples *wink nudge HAW!*

You have my heartfelt sympathy.

I always give my acquaintances a quick read, if they want. Usually a page or two, if they have grammar problems, and a chapter or two if they don't. And unless I'm genuinely enjoying myself, I'll stop, hand them back what I marked up, and say, "I think you're doing OK, and these comments should get you on the right track."

And if they ask why I stopped, or insist that I read more, I kindly explain to them that in any of my professional capacities, (tutor, writer, or editor), I am always compensated for my time and skill.

I've never had a problem yet.

My favorite: I'm a Proctologist, but I only deal with a$$holes by appointment.

Yeah, I've been asked to look at things, and once, I was asked if I could write the person's memoir.

I am tempted to say I'm a divorce lawyer or something. Sounds like a fun occupation.

I never have the problem of explaining what I do. I rarely leave my house and when I do, I don't talk to anyone.
