Can anyone tell me what's the agreed method of submitting the text for a PB. Do you need separate sheets for each page? Do you show pages with line breaks? Do you comment on where the pictures go?
So many questions, so little clue.
Please help.

Generally, write it out the same way you would for a non-picture book story. Don't break it into the pages you think it should be arranged when published, don't comment on where the pictures go or what illustrations are needed unless you need to make something clear (for example, you might need an illustration showing exactly the opposite of what the story seems to imply; say, a young girl tells her mom that her room is clean, the illustration needs to show a room that's a complete mess).

There can be exceptions to this, of course, but this is the generally accepted method of submitting a PB story.

This is the US "standard". I assume it would be similar in the UK but I'm not sure.

Do you have a copy of the 2009 Children's Writer's & Illustrator's Market? If not, you may want to get a copy. It answers lots of questions about how to submit and where to submit, and has a lot of articles specifically related to picture books this year.

That sounds like a good idea. I think I've been getting it right for some time so it must be the writing that's not up to much. That's a whole other issue ;)
